Question When is it deemed more than spotting?

    Hi all,

I am driving myself crazy at the mo . I had some spotting (light pink CM) on Fri arvo only noticeable when I wiped, spent Fri nite in the ER had bloods done, HCG came back as having doubled in the 48hrs since my last BT - yay ! I had an U/S yday morn, but was told it would be too early to see anythn as my HCG was only at 621 (not 1000 as needed for anythn to show up on scan). The Sonographer could see that I had O'd twice once from each ovary! So I went home feelin a little better, but then this morn I woke to what seemed to be like the start of a period (sorry if TMI) - still only noticeable when I wiped, but darker brown, and then this arvo it has lessened again. Could this be from the internal ultrasound probe irritating my cervix? Or does it sound more like I'm having a M/C? I haven't had any pain at all, and I'm worrying myself sick that I am about to lose another baby. Any advice?

I'm sorry you're worried - it's the worst feeling isn't it? I realy don't know what it means but I am hopeful and fairly confident that it could be implantation bleeding. I had that and at times it was very brown, quite heavy and even some redder bits. I thought I would m/c for sure but didn't - so there is hope!

See your doc again soon if you can to give you peace of mind. Unfortunately we can't fast forward to the magical 12 weeks and have the scan to show things will be okay. In this pregnancy I'm almost certain I will bleed cause I did with other 2 - hope not though.

    Hi clarebear,
If its brown or a burgandy colour its old blood and nothing to worry about. When you have a M/C you will definately know it. My M/C was very painful, I dont mean crampy but like a knife jabbing at me (sorry if TMI) and I bled heavily, like a heavier, clottier period(sorry again if TMI).If your not filling a pad and in no pain try to relax. I know ,I know easier said than done but honey you sound fine to me.If you have anymore concerns see your GP or go to the ER.

    Thanks guys,
Yep Paranoia..... it'll get me every time! I guess after my ectopic I am sooooo uneasy about anything that is a signal of possibly losing this baby too. I wasn't sure if M/C could occur with little or no pain? In terms of implantation bleeding, I thought that would've happened already? I hadn't thought of that as an option. I had my BT this afternoon so I guess 2moro I'll hopefully have some answers (but maybe just more questions!) Thanks for sharing ur experiences, it helps to know that what I'm going through is not strange

I don't want to worry you further, but this isn't actually always true. I've had some bleeding in all three of my pregnancies and the one where I had the darkest, brownest coloured spotting was the pregnancy I m/c. It was also what is called a missed m/c because i had absolutely no pain and had no idea I had lost our bub until I started spotting. My advice is always that if it's enough to worry you, it's enough to go and get checked out.

I know it's an awful wait, but hang in there, bleeding in prg is very, very common and like i said - I've had bleeding in all three of my pregnancies and I have two very healthy babies to show for it!

    Hi clarebear,

This is not necessarily true (sadly for me) as it was a sign of a missed m/c. You don't always know and there is not always pain. I didn't feel anything but it was a little later down the track.

Take it easy and go get your results tomorrow - all the best for HUGE hcg numbers when you get your results.
PLENTY of BBers have had varying degrees of bleeding and sometimes it goes on an on but they go on to birth bouncing babies.
I also had some bleeding with DD1 but she was perfectly healthy and storming around slamming doors as we speak!

It would be nice if things were nice, tidy and straightforward. Pg after a loss is very, very hard.......and I can't wait to hear your birth announcement in a few months time xoxoxoxoxo

    Hi all,
    Just an update....
I got my BT results back this morning, and my levels in 48 hrs have gone up from 621 to 1303, so Dr says we are on track at this stage and not to worry too much about the bleeding (which has subsided again today). Thanks for helping me through this very scary time
