    Cute Tooshies Feedback?

    Hi,

MCN newbie here. I am interested in the organic bamboo velour nappies, after any feedback or advise. They are soooo soft and cuddly. How do the compare to Baby Behinds??

    Thanks

I have about 5 CT's and I think they are great - great fit, great design and some of them are sooo cute!! (I have one with a dinosaur on the back - its gorgeous!!) And they fit DD and DS so well too.
I have probably about 10 baby beehinds bamboo - and one hemp.

I like them both equally as much I think - though I do trust the BB Bamboo of a night with DD because she sleeps about 14 hours without a nappy change and I don't think I would trust the CT as much as that.

Having said that - my reason is probably because my BB's are at maximum absorbency whereas my CT's are still quite new, so not as absorbent yet.

So I probably haven't helped you at all.. LOL

I have a couple of them and they have lasted well as they were one of the first I bought so are about 2 years old.
They are a little wide in the crotch for a smaller bub I found.
Also it's not recommended for bamboo velour to go in the dryer so over the winter months they take quite a while to dry. I put mine in the dryer and it is kind of matted. I hasn't affected the performance but it looks a bit iffy.

Thanks guys. Do you wash in cold water? What barrier cream do you use, has to be non zinc based yes?

I've got four of them and they are my favourite fitteds. I love the fit on my very tall, narrow crotched, slim boy, have never ever had a leak. I use them overnight occasionally on my nearly 11 month old (usually boosted with a 2 layer bamboo fleece booster) and they are fine. Can't compare to the BBH because I've never used them, but I love the softness of the bamboo velour. I would even go so far to say they are my most reliable nappy.

ETA - should point out that I started using them from about 4-5 months (DS was about 7.5kg then), so can't say what they are like on a newborn. But most OSFM nappies are going to be bulky on a newborn TBH, and too big for really small newborns.

Wow, I didn't know that you couldn't put bamboo velour in the dryer. Oops. I've only done it occasionally and it's usually just to finish them off, but I've not had a problem yet, and I've found that it really fluffs up the velour when they get a bit crunchy. Is that just bamboo velour, or all velours?

There is no barrier cream that is good for use on MCN, as they create a barrier on the nappy which then prevents them from being absorbent. You can use creams if you use a liner (eg: microfleece or disposable). I use a very thin and well rubbed in smear of Simmons pawpaw salve without a liner (not the Lucas brand, which has a petrochemical base), and have not had a problem yet, but depending on who you ask, some will say that non-petrochemical based creams are OK, and others will say if it rubs into the skin it's OK (eg: moisturiser type rather than barrier type), and others will say definitely no creams at all without a liner.

Cute tooshies make a few fitted nappies, the Hemp Classic, the Bamboo Delights, the SOy/Bamboo.

i have tried the Bamboo Delights and the SOy/Bamboo.

the Cute Tooshies Bamboo Delights is very soft, and has stayed very soft.
i have put ours in the drier when they are very nearly dry (just to soften up the pile for three minutes)
they don't take long to dry on the clothes horse
we started using them about 6kg, so i can't speak of them for a nb either
i bought them to cope with my bub's chubba thighs, which they did (yeh) and then when she became mobile and the rolls went, the side snappers STILL fitted her great. So from a fit perspective, i have seen them fit both chubby and slim legs really well. i love being able to adjust wasist and leg setting INDEPENDENTLY.

i added more snap pairs to the wings, i don't like how far apart the snaps are. that's my only criticism of them.

THe SOy / bamboo Cute Tooshies nappy is more absorbent and correspondingly, takes longer to dry. If i had no night nappies, that is the one i would use (over the BD) as the night nappy stand-in, with a wool soaker. The fabric isn't cuddly like the BD but it functions well. it's a non-glam, hardworking MCN i think.

    haven't tried the hemp classic.

i tried the Cute Tooshies AI2 and that worked well too, just like the fitted, except with a hidden PUL layer and minky outer.

my bub is now 11kg, and we still have more snaps to go before she grows out of this OSFA. Whereas she has grown out of some other nappies earlier than the weight range says (they were front snappers).

my kid just suits SS well. bodytype.

    Cute Tooshies or BBH Bamboo?

This is sooo hard, now I can't decide between Cute Tooshies and BBH Bamboo??? I would like to get a set suitable for both day and night and maybe a couple of "pretty" AIO's. I really want it to be soft on his bot bot and quickish drying. Help!

I haven't used CT's for nights - but the BB Bamboo work great on both my kids for night and during the day.

i ahve tried both of those.

IME the bamboo velour dries faster.

you can boost both for overnight, but they are not night nappies as far as i'm aware. My baby used and uses them as day nappies and has done since six months old. Other people, i guess with light wetters, do use them as night nappies (boosted) and often with wool soakers.

baby beehinds sells a specific night booster.

getting the nappies to fit with extra boosting? try OUTER boosting
    (outside nappy, but insdie cover)
so that you get leg SEAL and not leg GAPE. GAPES means leaks.

there are mcn sites that sell both of those products, why not get one of each to try?

oh wait, cute tooshies has just "changed hands", i don't know how widely they are distributed now, except that i hear Bubblebubs will be selling them in future.

but you might strike some websites, with old stock who do sell both. (only one postage cost then).
