Long Term Assisted Conception - 2008

Welcome to Long Term Assisted Conception forum. This forum is for those that have been undergoing Assisted Conception for 12 months or more.

Just a reminder to all: all LTers love seeing a fellow LTer achieve that longed-for BFP, and we all find hope in one of our own having success in this difficult journey. But please remember that there are those who cycled with you who may not have received good news at the end of their cycle. Please do not post baby/child/pg tickers or pg related signatures (eg blinking BFP icons) etc in this forum out of respect for them.

As it's easy to forget to remove your ticker, please be advised that we will remove it for you if it's posted in here. Just easier, is all.

    The last thread is here.

I'm here!! Not much to say...just been doing the health kick thing all year with acunpuncture and herbs...was going to go for another PGD cycle using Gavins sacks' protocol in August but then got a condition called a trigger thumb (basically it got a nodule on the tendon and couldnt move) so have just last week had surgery on that and am trying to type and sew etc with one hand...great!!

So now it seems a bit pointles to go for a cycle before Christmas and waste the advantages of the safety net so we are aiming for either Jan or Feb for a fresh cycle. Our acupunturist thinks that we will be in great shape by then although she is a little bit curious as to why I had spotting on exactly day 7 post ovulation this cycle and says maybe we might not need IVF...... AF is due tomorrow so not holding my breath till then.......

Thats my year in a nutshell...hope everyone else is going okay.

    cheers

    New thread - new beginnings!

I have my last pill tonight, and after 4 weeks of breakthrough and increasing bleeds I will be so glad to get AF done and dusted. Em starts the stims next week if she is down regulated enough. Not long now until it all happens after it feels like forever waiting for the chance.

    Hugs to you all

    Dusty you have my sympathies!

After 13 years on the pill (now I wonder why I ever bothered!) with no problems at all, every time I'd have to take it for IVF I'd have constant breakthrough bleeding, and I really do mean constant. It would start without fail on the second day of taking it and wouldn't ever stop while I was on it.

Fortunately, my clinic started letting me down reg with only a week on it before starting lucrin, but I can understand why they need longer in your case.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you...

    Hi ladies,

Funny enough it was this time last year (Oct 2007) which I was poping pills, sniffing away and jabbing myself for the first time.. seems like a long time ago and I have lost my fear of the needle along the way. I am amazed at the strenght and perseverance which many of the ladies here have shown during your long journey...many of you have endured more let downs than I think I can endure....

    Wishing you all the best

Kahlan, you too have shown much strength and support on this journey .
Mel, so fabulous to see another LTer UTD and through having sex! Who would have thought it was possible.

Holly, Lou, Lulu - time for us to get our buts into gear and get outta being a LTACer!

Thanks for the well wishes. Only 8 days until EPU all going well for Em. Its been a tough couple of weeks for us both but fingers crossed Em will respond at least as well as last time. We plan to make the most of being in Melbourne this time with no kids and to do lots of shopping

Hi everyone. I?ve been on the IVF journey for almost two years now, and for the first time one of our frozen embryo thawed successfully and we were so happy to have our first FET last Thursday (at Blastocyst).

I have been trying to think positive thoughts all week (I figure if it survived the thaw, this one must be a winner!), and even started getting some standard pregnancy symptoms (metallic taste in my mouth, sore boobs). Then, on Wednesday I started spotting dark brown blood which lasted a couple of days so the clinic organised for me to have a blood test today. I got a call this afternoon and the nurse told me that I registered a very small amount of HCG (about 8) so they are doing another test on Monday to see if my levels rise. I figure I am about 13 DPO and my HCG level seems very low to me. Has anyone had levels this low and gone on to have a successful pregnancy?? I am hoping for a miracle!
