CSA - are they really helpful

In my opinion CSA arent that great in doing their job.
I am owed over $4k by my ex and they wont force it to do it's tax return ye.. it is only the last 2 months that we have gotten the amt that should be paid each mth plus a bit extra to recoup the debt.. but in my opinion they should let the debt get to this amt in the first place.

Wouldnt it be good if they could force the payer to do something sooner?
As far as I know it is now having the money garnisheered from work pay each week...

In my opinion CSA are too lenient.

the powers of the CSA only changed as of July 1 this year - prior to that time, there was no way to force an employer to comply with a garnishee request. they can only garnish a tax return if the payer actually does their tax - there are payers that haven't done their taxes for years to avoid this situation. noone can compel someone to do their taxes unfortunately - adn considering they had no way to enforce non payers to comply with paying, they were stuck with essentially keeping a record of what is owed.

in the past, the powers handed down by the government to the CSA were few and far between - but they have changed, and, as you've witnessed, they're now able to compel employers to comply with garnishee requests...
