Blood in vomit..... is that really 'normal'? *TMI*
Hi there!
I am suffering the worst case of m/s(read: ALL DAY SICKNESS!). I had m/s with DS, but with him, I would vomit as soon as I opened my eyes of a morning, and then feel ok for a few hours, until I had to vomit again. This occured from week 8 until after I gave birth to him, with the severity and frequency of the vomitting differing from day to day and week to week.
Anyway, this pregnancy I have felt nauseas from early on (around 6 weeks, maybe earlier).
Most days, I have the worst nausea I have ever felt before. There is no relief at all. I even struggle to sleep at night because I feel horrible, I don't generally eat breakfast as I cannot even think about food until Lunchtime ( I do make sure I eat small meals regularly from lunchtime onwards).
I will vomit every 3-4 days, or sometimes a couple of days in a row, usually only once, and around 3-4pm, and then have a few days off.
I have noticed, as I had with my last pregnancy, I am bringing up small amounts of blood when I am being sick.
Now, last pregnancy, I saw my GP as soon as the bleeding began, and he dismissed it as a probable irritated blood vessel in my throat, that would clear over time. Well, it's been 13 months since I was last throwing up, and it's happening again. The funny thing is, with the last pregnancy, because I was so sick so often, I was ok with it. This time, Because I am not vomitting as much, I am a little concerned.
Is this common? Could it just be an irritated blood vessel as my GP suggested last pregnancy, occuring again?
If the blood is fresh red blood then more than likely it is some kind of trauma or irritation to a blood vessel and nothing too much to worry about but if you are worried then you should consult your Dr to ease your mind. If your vomit resembles coffee grounds or is dark brown then this is something that need the immediate attention of a DR.
I also had blood in my vomit when I was pregnant. It was really late at night so I rang a medical hotline and the nurse I spoke to said to go to the hospital and get checked out. When the doctors saw me they did blood tests and nothing showed up in those so they put it down to a small tare in the lining of my stomach. Nothing to worry about unless it got worse. I started taking B6 tablets and that help heaps with the m/s but check with your GP or chemist before you take them tho.
