A girlfriend of mine has a 18 month old DD who is biting her new sister who is 3 months. Any ideas? My mum said to bite her back!! But I think that could be a bit mean!
DS1 went through this phase as well and I was his chosen victim. I told him 'no, biting is not nice' in a firm voice and moved him away from me or put him down if I was holding him. He would cry and want to be cuddled. I would wait for about 10 seconds, then cuddle him and tell him again that he is not to bite. I would then tell him that I loved him.
It lasted about 3 weeks and he has never done it again. Now he is into pinching! He is a strong little monster too!
My DS has started to bite me a bit and also to pinch at my chest (he doesnt mean to but it HURTS)
I told him in my firmest voice 'No thatisnt nice' and shook my head. i also put him down for about 20 secs or so. not sure if it has worked yet (he is only 13 mnths tho..)
Ah yeah, Riv bites when he's excited, I think cos he buries his head against me and squeals, and then figures, well, while my mouth's open, may as well have a nibble...
I usually yelp or yell OW! And rub the area. Cos it really does hurt. Which makes him cry, and then I say firmly, NO biting please, it hurts! And then give him a cuddle. He rarely bites now, but I'm still so tense when he gets excited and opens his mouth to squeal against my leg!
