Buffet meal at 5 star hotel - safe or not?

    Hi all,

In about a month I am going to a friends 40th b'day and he is holding it at The Marriott. We are having a seafood buffet, but I have been told there are non-seafood options - red meat, rice, vegies, cooked seafood etc. There are about 30 people going and I don't want to cause a fuss, but the meal costs $60 per head. I don't want to take risks, but being a 5 star hotel with the buffet meal being on a Saturday night (high turnover of food?) what do you think if I just avoid the seafood?

i would eat it, avoiding the seafood. Maybe just be wary of some of the pre-made salad type options, but i'm sure with a full buffet you could find enough to eat.

I went to a buffet christmas party last year at a 5 star hotel and ate up!!!!

I dont eat seafood normally so that wasnt an issue for me.

Just be careful with the normal things on listeria list that you would avoid.

Generally these 5 star hotels are busy and have a quick turnover or meals, the one i went to had some thinsg cooked as you wait anyway eg pastas, stirfrys, nann bread and you could pick what was and wasnt in things, then they also had other things in ba maries.

    Enjoy
