hi there, my DD dry reaches every morning at her breakfast time. i give her cereal, she particularly has some porridge mixed with heinz apple/oatmeal or banana porridge. she won't have cereal on its own as it's a bit bland. is it the texture? why does she do this? is it normal?
she will also do it some evenings when i give her dinner, normally vegies like the organics pumpkin/ricotta or pumpkin pilaf. she loves the taste and will eat a whole jar.
just so confused why she is dry reaching so much...will she be fussy do you think?
Maybe she just has a little bit of that reflex thing going on that they have when they are smaller? She's still young so might just be getting used to the sensation still of a spoon going in her mouth? Only thing I can think of anyway!!!!!
And not all babies like the bland cereals, I know my DS loved the banana flavoured farex and wouldn't touch anything else... and fussy - oh my god is he!!!! LOL
My DS1 is 2 years old and is still dry retching most mornings with breakfast. He loves his Weetbix but it causes him to gag. Usually only once or twice though.
My GP said he has a very good gag reflex and as long as nothing comes up and he doesn't get distressed, then he is fine.

I have found that making sure the amounts per mouthful aren't too big and having a drink every few mouthfuls lessens that gagging. Also, for Cooper, if the Weetbix is too thick, it causes him to gag so I often have to add more milk to the Weetbix when he is about three-quarters of the way through breakfast.
