DD doesn't like the heat

We are finding that whenever the day is hotter, like today that our DD is having alot of trouble sleeping and is screaming. She is wrapped when she sleeps and has preferred that from birth so if i unwrap her she ends up waking and still crying.

Is it ok to use a ceiling fan in her room if I then cover her with a light blanket?

Any tips on keeping her cool and comfortable? We have air con but her room is not near it so would take awhile for us to cool the house so only really viable if we think ahead...

I have her dressed in a short sleeve jumpsuit (short sleeves and legs) with socks and a muslin wrap.

My DS hates the heat too. I think a ceiling fan on would be fine as long as it isn't directly on her. We have a fan on in the room when ds is asleep, he wouldn't sleep otherwise. If its really hot you could just dress her in a singlet, nappy and muslin wrap.

We also use a fan in DD's room (although she is older). Most people (including babies!) tend to do better with the heat when there is more consistent patterns to the weather - the body need to aclimatise.

You could also try wrapping in muslim wraps to aide cooling. I had some great ones I bought at the pregnancy baby expo a few years back - they were great!

Yes to fans, muslin or even light cotton sheet wraps. Not sure that you'd actually need the blanket unless the room temperature cools down? Do you have a nursery thermometer?

Last night we had to resort to putting on the air con, wheeling out her cradle which she hasn't used since she was 8 weeks and put her outside our bedroom door so she wasn't in direct line of the air con but got the cooling effect. She went off to sleep for 4.5 hours.

Our baby monitor includes a room temp and I can set a min and max temperature and if the room temp goes over or below the settings an alarm sounds which is useful as I have used it on hot nights to let me when if the temp drops and I need to put a blanket on her.

I will try the nappy and singlet next time and see if that helps and will give the fan a go also. Just worried about her getting cool as she has had a little cold on and off since she was about 9 weeks old. Snotty nose and muscus, no temperature thankfully but just conscious of making sure she doesn't get cold.
