Question Wakes up screaming...? Do babies have nightmares?

The last few days Jazz has started to cry with a really raspy 'worn out' scream/cry (kind of like shes in pain) when she wakes up. At first I thought she was getting a cold as she was coughing and sneezing yesterday, but she doesn't always cry like that, just when she wakes up... If I pick her up and hold her close she instantly stops crying (if I put her on my knee she keeps crying...). She also throws her arms out and shakes (which she doesn't usually do) until you hold her close. She obviously just needs to be close to me, but I'm just wondering do babies have nightmares? I usually have her right next to me when she sleeps and its not the she get startled or startles herself... its absolutely random as to when she does it.

Is this normal? I had a drs appointment today but its been changed to Tuesday, so I'll ask then, but until then... what do you think this is? Nightmares?

TBH Leasha, I have no idea if babies dream - what would they be dreaming about? But it does sound like she's having nightmares, poor lil chickie.

leasha i had same issue with josh i found he was startling him self and doing what i do, fall into a deep sleep then jump out of it. I found wrapping him before bed helped heaps it keeps him sleep longer at night.
