Red face OMG, she literally swallowed a butterfly!

Yep, the butterfly charm from her little bracelet went straight down the hatch this afternoon...

Beth has a naughty little habit of putting stuff in her mouth and showing me, or pretending she does. I'm always watching out for her in case she does it. Today I went on a furniture moving rampage and I have pockets full of buttons and things that have fallen to the floor. Both kids were tired and due for a sleep and had started picking at each other and fighting, I sent both off them off in separate directions whilst I try to hook the VCR back up so they could lie down and settle for a sleep.

Beth got all very upset and distressed. Dp comes in and tells me she is saying she swallowed something. It sounded like she was saying button through the tears, but we weren't sure if Mitch had taken something off her and she wanted it back. All hell broke loose as Mitch was carrying on about something, Dp was yelling at him, Beth is hiccuping and crying. I screamed at the boys to SHUT UP (they actually did) so I could hear Beth properly.

Finally realised that she swallowed her butterfly that had fallen off the charm. It probably hurt going down but I was more concerned that it was going to be sucked back up with her crying and hiccups and block her airway on the way back up. She kept coughing, I was trying to calm her and semi freaking out, so I loaded everyone into the car, with instructions for Dp to sit on the floor in the back and keep her calm. The stupid man fed her lolly snakes to do so and if I realized that I would have run off the road .

By the time we got there, she was giggling but they saw to her almost straight away and sent her to Xray. Waited maybe 3 minutes for Xray and the lady let DS in to see her get the Xray, then took us all around the back to see the result.

One metal butterfly shape in Elizabeths tummy. They even gave us a film of it to take home! I think the entire floor checked the pictures out. The Dr was just lovely and Beth charmed the pants off the poor bloke . A tub of ice cream each and we were all sent home.

WE have to get another Xray to check its moving through her system on Monday.

What a day! However I gotta say how quickly we were seen to, we were back at home about an hour later. Yay William Angliss!

Now the entire house is asleep for a change....all it took was a trip to Emergency!

I swallowed a coin when I was in pre primary. I was in day care going for my afternoon nap, and a friend gave me some money, and i thought the safest place to keep it while sleeping would be in my mouth. Well down a 20c coin went. It hurt like hell. It didnt move through though, so one day I had to miss out on my ballet to have a ultrasound to see if it was still there, if not i was going to be transferred toa bigger hospital and operated on.
But they couldnt find it. So I got to go to my ballet competition after all

OMG when I first read this I had visions of her running around outside and swallowing a real butterfly!
    Me too!

Im glad all seems ok now. Hope the butterfly finds its way out without much fuss.
