Question Q's about scars and baths!

2 totally unrelated topics but I didn't want to post 2 threads!

I was told that they would cut on my old scar and thought they had until I checked it out the other day and found my old scar about 2 cms below my new one. I hadn't really looked closely and because of my massive hanging ledge I have trouble finding my new scar anyway. Not that anyone other than me and DH will ever see it but did anyone else have 2 scars instead of a new one on top of an old one???

Also - when did you have a bath after your c/s? My discharge is all but gone and the midwife told me to wait until it had gone or 6 weeks but Im sure I had one earlier with Izzy and I would love to just soak and relax today when she goes to bed. Surely my cervix will have closed by now? It was only open 2-3 cms anyway!!

    TIA chickies!

I had a bath at about... 6-7 weeks, once i had stopped bleeding. My bleeding was very heavy so I didn't want to have a bath because of that. My midwife said a soak in the bath would be nice, and that was only 10 days after the birth...? And I got to 10cm so I assume it would be ok?

I was told as soon as i stopped bleeding it was fine too. I second your sentiments Leasha, i wouldnt be in the bath if i was still bleeding either... and the other thing... people that have had VB's had their cervix all the way open too... i wonder what they were told, it would be the same....
As for the scar, being in the water would be find from 7-10 days anyway...

Is your concern fluid getting up there? cos IMO your cervix is always open when your not pg and water could get up there... Humm i dont know if i am helping or just prattling on now!

I went swimming with MJ at about 6 weeks

I have had the same surgery done twice (removing a benign tumor from my pelvis), and they did not use the same scar. If/when I have a second c-section I think I would prefer that they made a new cut - you end up with more scars, but at least you're not disturbing the exact same area that has finally settled down.

I think I had a bath at 2-3 weeks.. When I felt comfy getting up and down from that position.

Thanks Leash!! 10 days wow - I wonder if the midwife knew what she was saying or was just syaing it "to be sure"! She was gorgeous but was a RN/trainee midwife....

Thanks Sammiejane..... I think I'm worried because the midwife told me that I could get an infection because of my cervix but like I said I had only gotten to 2-3 cms with prelabour so Im a bit confused.... It's been 4 weeks today and the bleeding has stopped enough for me to comfortably know I can have one if I want to so I'm off to run a bath as soon as poppet goes down for her nap!!

IMO a second scar is better. I have two cuts on the same area although one was not a C/S but GYN surgery. The scar has developed alot of scar tissue underneath and can be painfull. I am having another C/S in a month and will request they don't cut on the same scar to prevent further scarring and ending up having to have the scar repaired.

I was wondering about the whole scar thing too! I have had 2 c/s and was told they would cut across the same scar. When i looked after it had healed a bit and didnt hurt to lift my ledge up,,lol,, it is kind of across the old scar but not quite. My first one was quite a wobbly scar and my second one is pretty straight so it looks kind of funny. But i have no problems with my scar and its very flat not raised at all. My first scar was raised but i used bio-oil on it and it took the redness and raised bits away...i think i need to use it again to get my second scar not so red and more skin tone. I think if i have a 3rd c/s i will make sure they cut across the same scar and not make a new one.

i am up to number 3 caesar.. and NOPE i now have 3 scars!!! they also told me they would cut along the old scars.... i think they didn't because of bad scar tissue...

as for baths..... it was afew days after we came home from hospital that i got in the bath with bub....i think from memory...when he was 4/5 days old
