Cervix Question...

Hi

I know I shouldn't have, but when I was in the shower I checked my cervix. I am almost 15 weeks. It isn't high like I thought it should be, and it is VERY open. Is this OK??? I am not bleeding or cramping. But it makes me nervous! Now I wish I had never checked . When does the CP rise and is the cervix usually shut closed?

Are you sure what you were feeling was your cervix? It shouldn't be open at all.

Yeah are you sure it's your cervix? Cause you shouldn't really be even able to reach it..

Definately, because I checked it for 12 months while TTC. I thought it was odd that I could still reach it. It is so open I could (but didnt) put a finger in the Os.



EDIT: Just wondering, is this serious enough to go and see the Dr? I see my Obs in just over 2 weeks and will be 16 weeks then. I just googled and scared the pants off myself when I kept seeing 'incompetent cervix causing miscarriage'. Oh God why can't anything be easy??? I do feel a bit of pressure on my cervix, but not much.

I'd go see a doc now, just to put your mind at ease. Nothing worse than sitting there thinking the worst and freaking out for the next 2 weeks...

Yep go get it checked out. If nothing for the reasurence. The stress won't be good for you or bub anyway. Goodluck hun, i hope its nothing bad.

Aww Tam thanks for asking. I think my cervix is just so soft that it feels open. I have a tiny cyst on my cervix, and sometimes it makes it feel open when it isn't. Thankfully it feels much more closed now (and I won't check it again!!!). But I will ask my Obs about it in a fortnight.
