red dots on torso - what is it?

My DD has quite a few red dots on her torso area, nowhere else, not on her back, legs, arms or face. They are not filled with pus or anything, just look like little red dots. She is playing fine. Any idea what it could be? Worried...

I'd say it could be heat related, it was hot yesterday in Brisbane (thats where you are right?)

Did she have a fever at all a few days ago? If so it would be roseola (sp?). With that the rash disappears after about 12 hours and all is good. OR it could be heat rash too.

Are you able to take a photo of it?
Depending on size or whatever, as others have said, could just be heat rash or elergic reation to something. Is it just red dots or rash like?

Emily has the same rash, except hers is covering her whole body. She's been unwell as well with it though.
We had her in Emergency last night, and so far Meningoccal, measles, rotavirus & chicken pox have been ruled out. Unlikely to be heat rash, as it's covering so much of her body, so they're thinking a viral infection, or gastro.
Could be the same in your case?

if its roseola its normally accompanied by a high temp. Has she had high temps.

Jodi, what do they do to rule out chicken pox - is it a BT? We *think* DS has had chicken pox but the GP said she was only 90% sure thats what it was??

rayray - the dr's said Emily's rash was the wrong type of rash for chicken pox. They didn't do a bt.
I'm heading to my dr tomorrow to try and find out what it is.

Hey QB. One of the little girls at Mothers Group had it last week and the Mum was told is was Roseola (???) which is a virus which fixes itself. It starts with a temperature and by the time the rash comes out, the worst is over. Not sure if it is the same thing or not but if her behaviour isnt affected, I wouldnt worry too much. I always judge by their behaviour ....

Sounds like roseola...soooo common. Nothing to worry about if it is. I agree, behaviour reveals a lot.

she is happy with no temps, it's just a few red dots...not really a rash. is it still there but not as bad, perhaps she is allergic to my perfume or something??

Hi QB ..... if it is Roseola, the temperature disappears by the time the rash shows up so you probably wouldnt even have known that she had a temperature. So long as she is happy, that is the main thing!

oh ok, may have been the case. where do they pick that up from?

QB, it's spread by droplets like cold/flu etc. But they can also "get" it, rather than catch it. It's actually a respiratory condition but the cause isn't known. The incubation period is about 2 weeks also.

ah ok, thanks. spots are disappearing today. they are only sparingly on her...not covered all over, thanks everyone for your help with this.
