When is day one REALLY day one??

I sort of asked this question elsewhere but thought maybe it should be here too...

Had a light bleed for 4-5 days which commenced 3 days after having implanon removed. I called this day one (the first day of bleeding). I am not experienced re taking note of CM but noticed changes at both day 6 and 14, with a possible positive OPK day 14 too (found test v.vague and hard to read, test line was darker but thinner than control?). Started light bleed again on day 20, which thought (hoped) was just a bit of spotting or implantation bleed but a couple of days on is hanging around so appears to be like a very light period - therefore was day 20 really day one and i had a 19 day cycle??? Bit confused as wanting to keep track of when to try OPK and dont want to waste them as i bought digital one, expensive but much easier to read (looking forward to seeing a smiley face one day!!)

Long winded way of saying, what constitutes a day one?? Does it count if its not a "normal" period?? TIA

My understanding is that Day 1 is the first day of your period. When I was on Clomid that is what my FS told me. I am pretty sure though that it can take a while for your body to settle into a natural rhythm after coming off an implant. It might be worth having a chat to your GP about it.

It can certainly take some time for your cycle to return to normal after using implanon. The initial bleeding was likely to be an oestrogen withdrawal bleed, and your OPK may be a bit confused by synthetic hormones still being present in your bloodstream (and saliva). Don't be concerned, things will settle down. Charting will just be a little more confusing for now, so just do your best and record as much info as you can.

Use your OPK anytime you notice fertile cervical mucous (watery or raw egg white consistency) and record day one as the first day that you have menstrual flow (as opposed to spotting).

    All the best
