QLD mums - do you have bub's aircon on overnight?
Well it is sticky hot due to the storms i am guessing. and not much breeze.
(currently 24.5 degrees @ 9pm according to BOM)
So i have DS + DD's air con on at 25 degrees on low.
DS has singlet, sleeveless short jumpsuit and a lighweight cotton sleeping bag
DD has a short sleeve pj top and woolen shorties on (no sheets).
Do you think they will be cold?
What temp do you keep it on overnight? and what do you dress them in?

I'm in Cairns and we have started the wet season, we have the air con on all day or it would be unbearable!! We have it at about 26 and Bethany sleeps in a shortsleeve suit and a flannelette wrap. We tried muslin wraps but she doesn't like them!! I hate to think of our power bill but would rather have a comfy cool baby.

I live up in Darwin and DS has the aircon on at night most nights. He sleeps in a singlet, full length one piece (cotton) and a light weight sleep bag. The aircon is usually on 23 and the fan is on 5 (slowest speed) to move the air around or it gets a bit stuffy.

Question : if you set the temp to 25/26... and the temperature outside goes to 16 in the early hours... does the aircon keep the temp warm at 25/26?

The temp doesn't get that low here this time of year!!

im just talking hypothetically lol.. i have no idea was temp. it gets to but if it is colder outside than it is on the aircon will the room in theory be warmer?

We're in Cairns too, and today has been the first day ever where we've had the air con on for most of the day (we set it at 26 degrees), and we turned it off at about 8:00. Normally I would turn it for a short time late in the afternoon, just to cool the place down a little, but Euan's been teething, and cuddling a clinging, sticky, drooling baby in high heat and humidity just feels revolting.
We won't turn it on again tonight, but we do have ceiling fans going 24/7. Euan usually sleeps topless at this time of year, or sometimes in a light singlet, and throws his sheet off anyway. He never complains of being cold. But his room rarely gets below about 27 degrees.
ETA: PP, if you have a split system and it's set on auto, then yes, most systems will run warm to heat the room to maintain the set temperature. But if it's set on 'cool' then it will ensure that the temperature remains at or below the set temperature, and will only run cold air. It's more efficient to run it this way.

suse - i have no idea waht it is set at. It is a split system
i cant have the fan on in his room as i have the breathing monitor on and it sets it off....

I think most split systems default to run in 'auto' mode.
Wow, I didn't know that the breathing monitors can be set off by a fan. We never used a monitor, or we would have found that out very quickly; we always used a fan in Euan's room, he was born at the start of the wet.

We were the same with DD. We are living in the whitsundays atm and she would sleep in a nappy under the window with the fan full ball and still sweat!!! But the outside noise of crickets and frogs was bliss for getting her to sleep! miss that here in the city!.
But DS is a tummy sleeper so we have the monitor on in case.
I will have to get DH to check if it is auto or not. Is it on the control or the unit itself?

Dunno hon, we've just got a normal one. The last one we had was entirely controlled through the remote though. Different brands might be different though.

Yep, on during the day and night, set to around 24/25 degrees, so the room doesn't get any hotter than this. We had a few cool nights a couple of weeks ago, and even though the aircon was set to 25 i think? the room was 16 degrees when I went in early one morning.
DS sleeps with a onesie outfit on, cotton sheet and a lightweight blanket.
