Wondering if i should do anything, i just had a call from DS daycare to say chicken pox is going round, DS has had it already, and i think ive had it but not 100% sure, although because this pregnancy was IVF i have a feeling they checked all my immunities before proceding. Does anyone know if chicken pox is one they check for? Do i need to let my Ob know or just keep an eye out for symptoms? would love some advise if anyone has a similar experience. Thanks
hi Scooby,
My DD daycare has also had a bout of chicken pox.She had a pock on her foot and my GP said 1 pock dosnt make chicken pox and she has had the vaccine. My DS has also had them but I didnt get them then and have never had them so Im guessing I may have an Immunity of sorts. My GP is also my OB and explained that there are some people who are immune to things while others seem to contract everything. If your really concerned talk to your FS. This should put you at ease.
I know they check for measles, mumps, rubella just incase you need a booster. Im not sure though if they do this during PG. Oh and HIV is another.
Im sure if you didnt get them when your son got them you should be fine but again talk to your doc.
I would let your OB know as he may be able to do a blood test to see if you have had it. Even if you have had it you can get it again in the form of shingles. Both also have fevers associated with them that are dangerous in pregnancy.
I know I got tested at my blood test for chicken pox (varicella) as it is one of the ones that is dangerous to contract during the first and third trimester. I wasn't immune with DD so I had the vaccination prior to getting pregnant this time and the test this time showed immunity.
I know last time I had to be very careful about exposure to anyone with chicken pox int he first and third trimester. If you have your blood test results look and see the varicella result, if not call your OB or FS.
I don't think much can be done if you haven't had it. Just steer clear of effected people. We have a similar situation with whooping cough, it's spreading .like wildfire through DD's school. Not happy jan. And everyone has been vaccinated. Im really peed that the vaccine is obviously not doing anything....
