I know there are probably heaps of threads on nappy rash but Ds has never had it before he is in cloth full time also.
Saturday he had a spot on his bottom that looked like a graze, it then blistered so i just put heaps of paw paw cream on it and cleared up. Now last night when putting on his nappy he has like crinkley kinda blisters running down each side, so put a heap of skin soothing cream on and this morning they are peeling?
Should i just use disposable nappies till it gets better cause we are in cloth full time? Shoudl i see a dr also? I am really worried cause he has never had it before so have no idea what i am doing?
It's horrible when it gets so sore and red isn't it. A few things we did when Izzy had it - keeping in mind we use sposies though so Im not sure what you can and can't use with cloth.
We put her in those pull up training nappies so that the nappy wasn't sitting right up against her butt, I had her nappy free as much as I could to help dry it out a bit. We went to the dr and he said to use a zinc based cream and if it didn't clear up that there was a anti-biotic powder you can get to help clear it. My gf's little girl had a bad rash for ages and it took alot of cream and nappy off time to clear it. Good luck I hope you find something that works.
Is he teething Amber? That is the only time DD has got a rash. If the rash is bad, i use a nice thick healing/barrier cream and put a microfleece liner in the nappy. Go to your local spotlight, get a bit of microfleece. (not polar, must be micro) and cut it in a strip to fit in the nappy. Protects the nappy but still keeps the bum dry. Also give him as much nappy off time as you can manage.
If the rash persists and it is not teething, i have heard of babies developing a reaction to certain fabrics. Generally synthetis fabrics like suede cloth, microfleece etc.
In regards to cream, i really think different things work for different people.
Many people love Moogoo as you can use it with MCN and don't need a liner. I find it great, except if the rash is bad then i find i need something 'stronger'
Sudocream doesn't work for us, but many people swear by it. Penaten and Bepanthem work best for us. It think you need to try one out and see what works.
Oh and one other thing i have done in the past is use a diposable overnight and REALLY slather the cream on.
Ange i think he is teething, lots of chewing on fingers and slobber everywhere, he sounds like a dog lol! I have a heap of micro fleece i got form our pookey pocktes nappy shop have just been way lazy to cut it! Also where do you get moogoo from?
Tan he was nappy free all weekend cause we were out side alot! thanks for the hugs, i feel like i am to blame cause of the rash
Bah! Does that mean you are blaming me when DD has a rash?! You silly thing, it isn't your fault.
Moogoo- Get the 'soothing cream', it's online, they post from QLD so you'd have it quickly. The website can be a little confusing so i emailed the lady, she was so lovely and helpful.
Sorry Ange didnt mean it like that, just mummy guilt i spose! I am off to get some today cause really dont want him in sposies! I think he gets a rash from them anyway!
I found the Moogoo worked really well. Got the soothing MSM cream (uddercream). Is the rash dry or moist? What worked well for DD2 was plenty of nappy free time. I would but the moogoo on, let her have same free time, then put cornflour on. Both are fine for MCN. Cleared up the rash really quick. If the rash is a dry one, then I skip the cornflour. I also use soft wipes with camomile tea to help sooth her bottom.

I 'think' the udder cream is great for everyday and a little redness, but if it gets bad the soothing cream is better for clearing up. That's what the lady from Moogoo advised from memory.....
As a side note, it is great for DD's eczema too. And if you have any cradle cap issues their infant scalp cream rocks.
