I had my 6 wk checkup yesterday and all is good, I have been very lucky with breastfeeding and it all going like a dream.
I mentioned to my doc about how painfull trying to dtd was, so she gave me a tube of ovestin cream I did ask if it was ok while bfing and she said it was fine, but when I got home I read the little insert and it warns that if bfing it can cause a reduction in supply.
That is the last thing I want tohappen!!
so does anyone have any experience with using this cream? while bfing? any probs?
not really sure I want to use it now.....
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I got some at my 6w appt with DS.
I b/f him til just on 6 months.
I was really hesitant to use it for the same reason, but I only had to a handful of times and then found I didnt need it anymore.
Hey hun! I was literally going to post the same thread for the same reason. I went yesterday and read the leaflet when I got home and now I am a bit worried as well. Will chase up my original thread - there was someone on there who used it as well, might get them to pop in here for us.
i used it last time and fed for 18 months!! didnt effect me!
however found it was useless best thing i used was a lube called Sylk!! awesome stuff, just dont use heaps
goodluck!!
Many women experience vaginal dryness after they have a baby and while they are breastfeeding. Our bodies are naturally low in oestrogen at this time - giving us a break from fertility and allowing prolactin to do it's work of making milk.
It can take time "to get back into it" on a whole lot of levels. Many women find that farily simple (and hopefully enjoyable!) measures like taking more time with foreplay help increase natural lubrication. With a hungry baby who may wake at any time in the cot beside you, the tendency can be to rush things! Other couples find that it is helpful to use extra lubrication such as KY gel. Have you considered those measures? As I said, low oestrogen is the norm for this time of our lives. If needed, oestrogen cremes can be helpful, and are generally OK to use with breastfeeding.
