    Another $1000 bonus question....

Hi all, we were suprised to recieve the $1000 bonus today after thinking we would not get it. For some reason we were of the understanding that we dont get Part A, all our paperwork from centerlink says we do not. Anyway who's complaining!? So my question is, if at tax time our income is more than estimated and crosses the threshold, do we pay back the $1000 bonus or is it a one off sorta thing iykwim? Just seems like we are always paying back our benefit, DP works on commissions and its so up and down.

if you go over the income thresholds for ftba, you'll have to pay it back as you won't have been eligible for it. essentially you have an estimate on file that says your combined income will be lower than the ftba thresholds, but for whatever reason (perhaps you're close to the cut off) you've chosen to not have it paid in fortnightly installments. as a consultant i regularly recommend this - getting a few hundred dollars at the end of the year is more benficial than $18 a fortnight kwim?
