Gold coast holiday with special needs kid....HELP!!!

I have put my foot down and have TOLD jed that we are having a family holiday with the kids for the first time ever that doesnt involve a family wedding or birthday.

I really want to go to The Gold Coast (havent been to QLD since I was 20 *gulp*) in September and as my special needs guy loves movies I thought we could go to Movie World and then Sea World for Nikolaus.

I need to find accomadation that is
    a - child friendly
b - has a kitchennet as I have to cook special needs for Wilhelm
c - has preferably a seperate bedroom for kids to sleep in
d - isnt over crowded and noisey

I tried paradise resort and its not accomadating enough for our needs

Can anyone please point me in the right direction

Maz, how exciting for you hun...you sooo deserve a family holiday.

Would it be of any help to you if i collected some brochures and posted them to you for you to have a look through at your convenience ?

I was going to recommended the Paradise Resort but it's not suitable...Ashmore Palms like Danni suggested is also meant to be very family friendly. Without being too nosey what exactly do you need the place to have to accomodate your needs?

    Hey Maz,

I may be able to help. i used to be a travel consultant with Tourism QLD and sold heaps of holidays on the GC to families I also live on the Gold Coast

What about the Mercure Resort? have you checked out that one? Family studio rooms with kitchenettes, Very kid friendly, kids club, awesome play/pool area for the kids, fully licensed creche caters for 0-5yrs olds.

Ashmore Palms is a great one.....the owners are awesome too. (hopefully same owners still) lots of birds there though so if your kids are scared of birds then not a good option..

You need to get a hold of a "sunlover holidays" brochure from your travel agent. They do a great Gold Coast brochure. (thats who i worked for)

make sure you avoid the school hols in sept on the gold coast its busy.....anytime of the year is busy on the gold coast but ESP school hols!!

If you check somewhere like LJ Hooker sometimes they have rentals.... like holiday houses you can rent for a week... I wonder if you could get a house somewhere... following our discussion in the Super Kid thread

I've PM'd Maz beautiful, but I just thought I'd add it here if anyone else is thinking about things...

There is a caravan park with enclosed playground, pool and is 30 minutes north of the theme parks in Daisy Hill. Its close to the koala sanctuary and its a beautiful place. Its not in the middle of anything which is stressful for ASD kiddies and its close enough to head out for a few hours and have somewhere close by to stop off at.

LOL Smoz you certainly are dedicated!

Maz, try the Sleeping Inn Apartments (sleepinginn.com.au), from memory they are quite good... 1, 2 or 3 br, with kitchen, not crowded. HTH. Good on you guys for doing this, you all deserve it!

i have found wotif fantastic for finding accom that suits our needs - i book through them if it's just a night away, but if we're planning a big holiday, i'll look at what is there, then book direct with the mob cos 28 days isn't a lot of time and often the "good rooms" are gone. i just find it's one way of localising a search and finding what i'm after without stressing about hundreds of sites to scope out

so glad you're planning something maz - you and your family really deserve a break!
