Smile Is My Bunny Rabbit Pregnant ??

Hey everyone i brought a dwarf lop rabbit (Bugz) in feb this year she has really long fur and is so cute lol anyway i brought another rabbit (Rodger) about 3 weeks ago the pet shop told me it was a boy but after looking on the net and looking at the new rabbit i realized it was a girl aswell how funny after we named it rodger now we have to give her a girls name. Well since getting rodger , bugz has started bitting us if anyone goes to touch her tummy she will attack she fine if you touch her head. i didnt think much of it just thought she was moody now that we have rodger aswell until yesterday i was giving her a pat and realized she has enlarged nipples, Then today i go out to the hutch to see her and she has started pulling her hair out and shes never done that before now in her hutch she pulled all the hay, grass and hair she can get to the back of the hutch and i dont know why?? the only thing i though of was she may be pregnant... if anyone has a rabbit of is a vet of knows if she may be pregnant by these symptoms please help me out
    thanx

Just did a quick google search- How to Know if Your Rabbit is Pregnant - wikiHow
This might be of interest. But if the other rabbit who you thought was male is actually female, then how did the other one get pregnant??
A rabbit's gestation period is about 30-31 days, so the timing could be right. Or your first rabbit could just be a bit stressed out, either from the new rabbit, or heat or something. Can you give your vet a call tomorrow and ask for some advice? Don't really know much about rabbits, sorry! Other than that..they breed...like rabbits!

Sounds like she is either on heat or pregnant. I got 2 rabbits for a friend of mine (different times, bday and xmas) and turns out they were boy and girl and she started pulling her fur out then not long after my friend when to feed them only to discover 8 baby bunnies in the hutch and realised they weren't 2 girls that we originally thought!
My male rabbit went through a biting phase when he was on heat but don't think he pulled his fur out. All this was years ago, we can't have bunnies up here

well when i bought the second rabbit the guy at the pet shop said it was a boy but i got it from some dodgy lil shop so i cam home to look on the net on how to tell the difference and the new one looks like a girl according to the internet but ive had bugs since feb and she has never once acted like this ever. Shes always been a lovely rabbit. i checked her cage this morning and the whole things is full of thick white fur i hope she doesnt go bald from pulling all her hair out hahaha poor lil girl i just wish i knew what was going on. I rang the vet and they said take the new rabbit out so i did that and her behaviour hasnt changed they said the only way to see if she is pregnant is to take her in but the vets in sa charge through the roof shed need a checkup and an ultrasound which would cost heaps.

it's likely that she is fretting over the new rabbit and also maulting at the same time as it's getting hotter everywhere. we have had a number of rabbits over the past 10 years, and the only time any of them acted like that was when a new rabbit was introduced to the cage - we ended up getting a seperate cage for the second rabbit each time (which worked well - lawns got mowed quicker!)

if your rabbit is pg, you'll know soon - if rodger is male, it's highly likely!

having taken rodger out for only a short period of time, you'll likely not see any difference in her behaviour at all - it's going to take a couple of days for bugz to get comfy on her own again...

are you sure it's bugz that is pulling out her own hair? its possible the two bunnies are fighting a bit, and rodger is doing it to her - we had two mails, and they'd fight badly - and one always ended up looking sick with matty fur cos it was being ripped out - we ended up seperating them but kept their cages together - they became best buds - but we never risked them in the same cage again! lol

    hi,
if both ur bunnys are female then the one pulling out the fur could possable be having a "phantom" pregnancy- mimicing all the signs without being pregnant, when a doe becomes sexually mature and is with another rabbit she will attempt to "mate" the rabbit she is with they can also become aggressive.
it's also a big no no to keep rabbits together as both males and females are territorial and tend to fight, they are best kept on their own.i've breed and shown rabbits for over 10 yrs and had around 70 at one stage all in their own cages. it would be best to get another hutch for the new rabbit they will be much happier then
