Well I have finally attempted and succeeded at separating eggs and making mum's pavlova... question is what are some great, EASY and QUICK recipes to use the left over yolks?
A few ideas Nelly
1. Make a quiche - it would be super rich!
2. Make a custard tart - line a tin with puff pastry, top with egg yolks mixed with cream and bake.
3. Add to another few eggs to make scrambled eggs.
4. Pasta carbonara for dinner but given your status (pg!) make sure you cook the egg yolks well by returning the pasta to the heat when you've added the eggs.
Don't think I have the recipe here.. prob at mum's. But my pavlova recipe made a custard with the yolks, which you then put on top of the pav. Actually the pav was cooked in a kind of ring shape, so then the custard went in the middle and then you top the lot with cream & fruit. Twas yum. I'll have a quick look and see if I have it still.
ooooh yum liz! I ended up making a key lime pie - beat the eggs with a tin of condensed milk and 125ml lime juice and baked in a shortcrust base - really yummy! Reminds me of the citrus tarts you get at the coffee shops! Thanks for your ideas - Liz can I please have the recipe?
