This week has been quite good in that DD has started sleeping through the night and skipping her 2/3am feed, however today she has been a little different than her normal self. She is normally a very happy baby and will kick and play on the floor when she is awake, makes lots of noises, generally entertain herself etc but today she has seemed to be in a very serious mood. I've gotten some laughs out of her but not as much. She seemed normal during her bath which she loves so I'm guessing that she is probably fine but wondering if other peoples bubba's get moody sometimes..
To top things off she has changed her night routine tonight. Normally she goes down straight after her bath (about 6pm) and has about 45 minutes and then she stays up till about 9pm when she goes to bed. Tonight she completely skipped the 6pm sleep and instead wanted a feed. Also today she has been having 180ml feeds for each feed, maybe leaving 20-30mls but normally she only has a 180ml feed in the morning and then at night, her day feeds are normally 120mls..
She has finally gone off to sleep at 8.15pm (an hour early than normal) so not sure what is going to happen tonight in terms of sleeping through or not.
Also, she has done 2 x poo's today which she hasn't done since she was a newborn. She normally has a #2 every other day but she had 1 yesterday and today she has had 2...
I know she is probably fine but has anyone else has this happen.
All sounds pretty normal to me! Things tend to change all the time in my experience and you can (and I did) really do your head in worrying about why. In the end you probably won't ever know, and you look back and wish you had just gone with the flow more. LOL Having said that, you know your baby best, and if you are concerned about something in particular, have her checked out, if only to set your mind at ease.
Well an update, when she went down at 8.15pm she only stayed there for 1 sleep cycle and then she was awake and screaming.. I have only just now gotten her into bed (10:15pm) without her screaming. She isn't asleep yet but I'm hoping she is on her way..
I did think about teething as she is drooling something shocking at the moment. I had a feel of her gums earlier and couldn't feel anything but I've heard that they can get the symptoms of teething but not actually get any teeth..
Heather28 - I'm not fussed if she doesn't sleep through. She did it as a newborn and then stopped and only just started it again this past week. I'm fully prepared that it won't last so will just enjoy it while it happens. Luckily though when she does have night feeds it's a quick 15-20 minute exercise and she goes straight back to sleep.
Crystalboo - Since birth I've let her set her own routines, feeding schedules and sleeping patterns and pretty much just go with the flow of what she wants. I really have been blessed with a very good baby who has put herself into a great routine on her own. She sleeps well, eats well and is a very happy baby for the majority of the time. Essentially my job is just to read her signs. It is just when she diverts so far off what she would normally do, I guess it just worries me that something is wrong that I'm not picking up on..
Well it's 10:24 now and I've heard no noises so I'm assuming she is now asleep. It could just be that as she was at my Mum's today that her naps were all out of whack (my mum tends to get her up at the slightest cry when all DD really needed was her dummy back) so it could just be that her routine tonight is just a few hours out of whack.
Tomorrow we will finally have a day at home so hopefully she can get herself back on track.
Thanks for the replies, sometimes just takes a "sounds normal" reply to set my mind at ease that I haven't missed a really obvious sign..
