So we're going to my SIL and BILs for Christmas lunch. SIL mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we could stay the night if we wanted. That suits my DP as he wants a few drinks and I don't drive. However, I was worried how DD would go being out all day with nowhere to nap. So anyway, I didn't think we'd made a firm decision and then promptly forgot all about it because we've been quite busy organising renos.
So today, finally remembered to talk to DP and he is adamant that we will stay there overnight. Now, I see his point - he shouldn't be the one to miss out on having a few drinks all the time because I don't drive BUT now I haven't got tim to buy/hire/borrow a portacot.
Really not looking forward to it. We can take DD's mattress from her cot but I think she'll just go walkabout until we go to bed.
Anyone got any tips (apart from putting her in bed with us which we'll probably do anyway) on how to cope without a portacot?
How about having her in bed with you and moving her when she's asleep. You could take along the mattress or have you got one of those foam kids flip out sofas?
Well, that didn't go too well at all! DD didn't go to sleep till midnight, I fumed at DP and threatened to get a cab home and to top it all off there was an air mattress for us to sleep on. I don't do air mattresses - too soft for me.
So I spent Christmas night 'sleeping' on the floor. Got about two hours sleep inbetween concocting ways that DP will have to make it up to me. FANTASTIC.
