Be careful hun- there is a condition that causes extreme itchiness in pregnancy. I'd call my ob / midwife or go to your GP just to be sure. It could be this heat and humidity in ole sunny brisvegas but get checked out just to be sure!
ITCHY!!!
My whole body is itchy, and I am sick of scratching.
Where to start, my chin, above my breast, the tops of my feet, behind my knees, butt cheecks, lower back, the small of my back, my face.
The only part not itchy is my fore arms where I am covered in hives!!!
HELP!!!!
What can I do???? Should I go and see the doctor??? Please someone![]()

You poor love
Ring your midwife or GP. If you ring your GP tell the receptionists you are pregnant and are concerned and she should book you in straight away. Works at my doctors. I hope the itching can go away. Try and get in a cool bath to relieve some itching. Big![]()
I just saw some midwives at the hospital today for my routine check-up and they said if you get unbearable, totally insane itchiness to go and see them IMMEDIATLEY. I'd go and see them hun...good luck and hope you're all healthy!
I just call my doctor, and she is not back untill the 5th... and I havent been to see the midwife yet, my appointment is for the 16th....
is there something wrong with the baby, is that why i am so itchy?
theres a condition in pg where you get really, really itchy but I thought that it was a 3rd trimester thing.
Ring the hospital where you are booked in and speak to someone on the birthing ward or marternity ward.
Holy Cow sounds bad, did you find out what's causing it yet? Your poor thing!
You need to go to your hospital and get a liver function test as a deteriorating liver can cause all-over itching and that can be an early sign of a severe form of pre-eclampsia.
There is also a condition of pregnancy called PUPPPS which is harmless but intensely irritating and you can treat that with a topical corticosteroid.
Hello All
I rang the hopstial that I am going to, and spoke to someone, she said that there is not really much to worry about as I am only 14 weeks, but would be different if I were like 30 weeks.
She was nice lovely, she seems to think it is just the hot weather we are having here in Brissie.
She said that I can use calomine (sp?) lotion and or phernergan, which is a antihistermine (sp?) and both are safe for the baby.
I am booked in to see my Doctor first thing Monday morning, and we will see what she says about it all.
Thank you all for your advice and caring words, they all mean alot.)
that's great news! If youare only 14wks it may be just your skin stretching as everywhere expands to accomodate the baby and the energy stores you both need during and after the pg. If you have really sensitive skin QV I find is great to rub in a keep your skin soft - I find it helps cool me down too.
Thanks nelly, I think my sn has some of that, I will go and raid his room when he wakes up...
If it doesn't let up, please insist on a liver function test (blood test). HELLP syndrome can crop up quite early in pregnancy - I have a friend who delivered her son at 24 weeks because of it, and both their lives were in danger.
Best of luck. I also find oat baths help with itchy rashes - chuck a handful of oats in the bottom of an old stocking and tie it round the bath tap so that the water runs through it.
