Question Home birth after caesarean information?

No, we haven't even set a date to TTC #2. It'll be 2011 sometime... No, we haven't even decided if it'll be me or Shel. And no, I haven't completely healed from Jasmine's birth.

Despite all that, I have told Shel that I would like a home birth with a midwife, and possibley doula as well, for my next birth. The contractions were regular, getting stronger, and things progressed LOVELY when I was at home, and the problems began when I got to the hospital. My body was labouring perfectly. And I believe that I can do it next time.

Of course, Shel has some 'conditions'... basically that we have to live reasonabley close (within 20 minutes) to the hospital, and if labour goes longer than 24 hours again that we go to the hospital. I also think she is humouring me, so I'd like to just keep chipping away at her homebirth phobia for the next two years until a hospital birth seems like a foreign idea That and I know I'm far too emotional to rational discuss it during pregnancy and most conversations ended in me crying lol

Anyway, where can I find some general information on home birth after c/s that I can print off? Any good websites? Any books I can buy? What about some VBAC books? What does 'Silent Knife' focus on?

Hey hon, good on you for looking into this option, it's the only way you can avoid alot of stress with your second birth, to avoid restrictions and limits. Have you seen the two links here: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ou-can-do.html

Dont have much time this morning but speaking to some independent midwives will help, try looking up Vicky Chan, she is amazing, and there are some birth groups in QLD but I am not sure proximity wise to yourself. There are lots of links to places here in the education section:

    Welcome to CANA

Good luck hon... sounds like you have a plan for a really empowered birth next time, makes a huge difference to your emotional well being and the outcome of the birth x

Trish had a HBAC with Tehya (and then with Abbie) - you could PM her personally as I assume she would have some great info for you! Shmickers (I've spelt that wrong) DW was Trish's midwife so you might be able to get some info off him to!

Not that this directly helps, I'm just in a babbly, GOSH SOMEONE SHUT ME UP kind of mood.

Silent Knife is a definite hun, has info about VBACs and c/s in general. It gave me the confidence in myself to have a VBAC. Mel and I are selling one in the Classifieds if you want it a bit cheaper. I also read Thinking Womans Guide to a Better Birth, Labour of Love (focuses on home water birth - great book) and New Active Birth. Google vbac and there are a few sites that are wonderful. I-Can is American but has loads of studies and info, plus there are a few wonderful forums that I can't mention here but you will find them if you google vbac home birth. Read everything you can get your hands on, lots of my reading was done online, read stories about successful VBACs. Look into hypnobirthing too, lots of people swear by it. Good luck hun, Im sure by the time comes you will be so well educated and convinced that Shel will be too!
