Phil & Ted 3 wheel Pram with toddler seat

Hi Everyone
Just wondering if anyone has one of these prams and would recommend it? I was looking around at the shops today to see what mums had and I saw 2 of these ones and a few side by side which look ridiculously wide.
They look really good in terms of width, are they easy to steer, do you have to take the toddler seat off every time u get it in and out of the car?
There are a few on ebay but all seem to not have it for long which makes me suspect they werent happy with it....
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

I have one with my two children - 18 months and 3 months.

I found the newborn with toddler on top was hard to get DS in and out with it down flat (you can put it in the car like this!) but now that he can sit up (neck strong). it is great as the toddler seat goes on the back.

He looks out the side and i have toys on the back of the main seat which DD sits on. In this position yep you need to take it off every time but it is easy as.

It is so much easier to wheel them in stores in a narrower pram!

we've got one too, and i highly recommend it. the only problem i have had is with the tyres losing air really quickl.y, but that was our fault for using a servo air pump which stuffed the tube.

Pinkpalace - is your 3 month old already in the sit up position in your pram? Do you know when it is usually recommended for? My DD is nearly 4 months old but doesn't look ready to go in the toddler seat yet (she sits uprightish in the bouncer but don't think that's the same?)

Netty - I too am a very happy user of the P&T doubles pram - great to steer, lovely for newborn to sleep in, easy to get around the shops as narrow - I love it. I spoke to HEAPS of people about this pram before buying it and can hardly recall any complaints.

I have one and I hate it. DD#2 hated being in the "sling" section of the pram when she was tiny, and then really hated being in the toddler seat on the bottom when she was big enough.

I have now reverted back to a side by side (have just bought a lightweight double stroller) and I can't recommend it highly enough. I have tried (as in bought - not just taken for a road test) all the options - P&Ts, side by side and tandem (in front of the other), and can honestly say one or both of my kids hate everything but the side by sides. The little bit of added convenience that you get from the P&Ts is just not worth the nightmare of unhappy children IMO.

Other than the fact that DD#2 hates it, I also don't like it. I found my posture was atrocious when pushing it with the toddler seat down the bottom - you have to stand back quite a long way or else you kick your bub in the back of the seat. It is awful for going uphill and even worse downhill for that reason. I know a million people seem to have them and after owning one I honestly don't know why.

Jac - i dont know what th guidelines are.
DS has really strong neck muscles and i use a head support in the seat with him. SO he is fine.
DD sat up right from about that age too. She wouldnt lay down at all - just scream.

DS is already pushing up on his arms on tummy time has been for a few weeks. So i guess it is all to do with personal development of bub as well HTH

A bit unrelated sorry!- just thought that was interesting as we've had trouble with the tyres too. Plus, we also had more trouble getting a tube to fit the tyre.

dh pumped ours up at a servo, and stuffed it! We just took it to a bike shop and they fixed it. The baby shop I bought it from said to get replacement wheels from P&T direct, they didn't know any where else that stocked them.

As for the original question, I love my P&T. It's worked really well for us.

I love mine too, have had it for about 2 yrs and use it all the time.

It was awkward getting DD2 in the sling possie but when she was in she was quite happy to sleep for ages. I changed her to sitting up at the recommended age of 6 months (or when baby is sitting, something to do with less back problems when older) and had her in the back seat, she had no problem with it (also had her in the front and older in the back, the pram seems to be OK like that just making sure you hang on to it at all times, it made it easier for my DD1 to get out and back in again by herself).

Now my DD1 and DD2 swap front and back and have no problem with it, my new baby will be in a baby carrier and also using the pram when needed so I still have a seat for DD1 to use.

I dont like the brakes on mine tbh but apparently the new ones have better brakes than my old one.

Really - 6mths?? MY DD is 3 mths, and on the small side, and she only just fits into the cocoon. You must be able to put them in without the cocoon then as there is no way a 6 mth old would fit (or am I missing something?) Even with no cocoon is looks too small for a child much older than 5 mths to me........?

We are looking at these too and DH has heard quite a few negative reviews...
I think we will probably still go for it though, as I'm not sure that we'll need the toddler seat for a long period of time as DD will be 2.5 when new bubs comes and probably I will use a sling when the newie is tiny (DD HATED the stroller until she was around 3 mo... Not sure if this one will be the same, but I'm prepared for the eventuality.) I don't want to buy a tandem or side-by-side only to find I hardly ever have two kids in it, KWIM?
Probably this doesn't help you at all, but these are just my thoughts atm! I don't think the other joggers with detatchable toddler seats are as good from the limited research I have done.

Jac, my DD slept in the laydown position until she was nearly 2 - we would often take her out in the pram and put her down in it for a nap or at night for her sleep and she was absolutely fine. We got the sleeping bag for winter and she loved snuggling up in that.
