behavioural problems down the track or just a phase?
This may sound like a stupid question but the last couple of days have been awful in a way. My DD has always bonded so closely with me, giving me kisses all the time. But the last two days, when I say "kiss", she will hit me on the head or face. It is awful (but I find it hard not to laugh sometimes as she has such seriousness in her face!). She is throwing tantrums too, when she can't have something or when she grabs something I need and I take it off her. It is just awful, she screams and stamps her feet. By the way, she is only like this toward me when DP isn't around, he works shift work so only the days he works she is more this way if that makes sense?
DD has just started walking everywhere, still falls over a bit though.
Is this a phase, am I doing something wrong?
Did anyone else's gorgeous little girl or boy do this? Oooooh I want my happy girl back!
Thanks for your help (probably worrying for nothing as per usual)
I'd say just one of those beautiful phases sent to give mummy the urgent need for chocolate! both my girls have gone in and out of phases with lots of things, including hitting imo, the best way to handle it is to remain calm and gentle and not give it over the top attention iykwim. Tell her its not nice to hit mummy - I even ask DD#2 to say sorry to mummy, which she does in her own jabbering way then I give her a hug and move on. Oh and the floor tantrums, ah yay hey?? I too walk away as calm as I possibly can (not easy if they've been pushing my buttons for a while already) but I do try and pretend i don't see it. DH & I try and parent by the rule, what gets rewarded gets repeated. There are times for discipline, but its choosing your battles iykwim?
You're a fab mummy and haven't done anything wrong!! you're little one is probably becoming more aware of emotions & reactions, both hers and yours and so has become a little explorer/adventurer
