How am I gunna hold it???

When I had the scans with DS, holding in the pee was not difficult. I was muscly and strong and didn't even look pg.

When I had the scans with my m/c and kept nearly weeing myself as the muscles weren't what they used to be.

I've got a CT next Thursday and am worried about holding it. I'm doing the PC exercises, but everything is just so different since I had DS.

Anyone else experience this the second time 'round?

When I was pg the second time round, it was quite difficult to stop myself from weeing during the scan! You're not alone... It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to wear a pad just in case
Of course it's totally normal, our pelvic floors will never be as they were! Good luck with your scan (and holding in the wee!!)!

wear a pad hun and you don't have to be THAT full
I went for my early scan this time around, and I was so full I thought I was going to wet myself and the person told me I had had too much water, and I really only needed to drink 4 glasses.

i second that you dont have to be that full - it shouldnt be uncomfortable. with DS i drank the "recommended" amount of water which was 8 glasses 2 hours before. This time I drank 500-600ml, 45 minutes before and was fine. Both times while I was waiting for the scan i didnt need to go and was worried id not had enough, but both times were fine.
If there is an isue they will either get u to drink more, or do an internal scan

Yeah. They always seem to say "Wow, you're full", but then never expand any further. So, do I need to not be so full?? What?? Tell me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not going to drink as much. I always drink a litre an hour before the scan and then they press on my belly!! 500-600 ml sounds reasonable.

I always wear a pad, but it's still not a pleasant feeling.

Thanks for the advice on how much to drink. I won't go over the top this time.

This is the 12 week one - the 20 week one is even worse, there's no room for me in my body by that time, let alone someone else.

oh hun the first time I drank so much that the whole time I had the scan I wanted to cry, it hurt, it was so uncomfortable and I was so scared I would wet myself.

I would say I drank about 700mls or there abouts, and it was about 1 hour before I went.

Yeah AliBaby, they do tell you that.

missymoo - I was the same with DS. I especially loved it when they said, go and let a little bit out!

A little bit??? Once I've started, fella, I'm committed. When I wanted to stop I had to squint every part of my body, even my eyes. I was a clenched ball!

I think I had the same expression on my face super heroes do when they're stopping a fast moving train.

    Thanks girls

The 20 week one you dont need to drink anywhere near as much water. I wasnt told to have any at all for that scan, but I still had a bit anyway JIC.

With my scans, both times, I only had to drink one glass of water an hour before. 8 glasses of water - WTF!!! I would totally wet myself.

    uh huh. I almost did.
This was for my 20 week US with DS, I was doubled over in pain in the waiting room, tears streaming down my face, so they tell me to "try to let a bit out' WTF? There is no inbetween for me, its full or empty lol.

So needless to say this time I was a lot more restrained, and different u/s place too so different advice. Much better experience!

I had a good giggle reading these posts, I've got my first scan (this pregnancy) next week and I've been worrying about it. It hadn't even occured to me to wear a pad so thanks for that bit of advice.
On one of my last pregnancy's they told me to let some out because I was too full and Lestypuss you decribed that moment sooo well. Super human effort required for that one!!!.
Thanks for the laugh cheers Missy

so now i am not looking forward to the 20 week scan quite as much as i was

how in the world can you only let some out?!

i wasn't sure whether they were going to do an external or internal scan for my 12 week and so i decided to take advice i read on here - better to go full & be able to empty rather than try to fill! it wasn't as uncomfy as i expected but that may have just been my extreme nervousness & excitement about actually getting to see bub for the first time! hopefully i'll be just as distracted for the next one!!

I didn't have to drink water with either of my scans, thank goodness. Especially the 20 week scan which took 1.5hours. I wonder why some people places ask you to drink and others dont? It didn't seem to make any difference to the scan.

WHAT?? No water drinking? What's the go there??

Sloane - maybe practice?? That sounds unpleasant though. Just don't drink a litre like me. There I go - following instructions to the 't'.

Crying in the waiting room about sums up the feeling.
