My DD just weighed in at 6.4kgs at just over 10 months old. This doesn't even put her on "the scale" at all. My MCHN has never seemed worried about it and as such I never really have either but I thought i'd ask the rest of you if anyone is (has been) in the same boat and what have you been told.
If your MCHN is not worried then I probably wouln't be worried either. Has she been gaining weight fairly steadily? Is she happy? Is she learning to do new things ie: rolling, able to sit up, maybe crawling? Are you a small framed person, is your DH small as well? If the answer to these is yes then I wouldn't be worried.
If you're answering no then I would be a bit worried. In that case it can't hurt to get a second opinion.
One of the mums in my MG has a son who sounds similar. She is getting no end of hassles from health professionals. There is nothing wrong with him except that he is a small baby and does not fit onto any of the 'normal' charts.

I have a 3 yo who has always been on the skinny side! Even now she and her sister who is 18months weigh around the same which is only 12kg!
I think at 12 months she was only about 7-8kg. I will look for her book later and have another look... She has always been healthy though so i have not stressed to much about it but was made to feel pretty crappy about her weight gain now and then from people and the mchn's.
About 12 months ago i took her to a paed and he just said she is a skinny kid and not to worry about it unless she starts to lose weight! She is ultra active so i put alot of it down to that too
my dd is 8.4 kg(weighed her the other day) and is 17.5 months.
i think it all depends on there birth weight too as to when they think there is a problem.
dd was 3.86kg at birth so there is an issue being she has only recently passed double her birth weight.
I wouldn't be worried. I have been underweight my whole life and it hasn't done me any harm. My second DS at one stage was barely on the bottom of the charts for weight yet was in the 75th percentile for height. Once again the MCHN wasn't worried. TBH I haven't plotted his weight since so I have no idea where he is, although he is only 13kgs at 2yo so I suspect he is still very low.
MCHNs tend to be very cautious with weight, so if your's isn't worried than I am sure it is all fine.
Claire is 22 months old and is about 9.5 or 10kg. I think when she was 12 months old she was 7.5 kg. Alot of people say she is really small, but I'm not worried because I am petite too so I guess she's just taking after me in that department. She is really clever and extremely active so I guess she burns alot of energy running around all the time. When I took her to have her vax last month, my GP (who is a paed as well) didnt say it was not a prob unless she vomits alot, or is not developing any new skills or seems way behind with her development.
Seriously, you need big and small to make an average...
Thanks everyone. It always reassuring to hear of other people in the same boat. I have done my best not to worry about it, but I get such shocked looks when I tell people what she weighs. I knew there had to be other small babies out there somewhere. Zoe is doing great developmentally so I am sure she is just fine. I am short but not necessarily skinny (!!) but my DH is tall and very skinny...so maybe she's got my shortness and DH's skinnyness!!!
