Can you have an eco-friendly and hygienically clean loo?

Okay, so I'm on a mission to cut down on chemicals where possible. But the loo has me stumped. I don't know that I am comfortable not using bleach and/or disinfectant when cleaning the loo.

Or should I just clean it with eco-friendly stuff and only use the disinfectant if a bout of gastro occurs?

How do you green girls clean your loos?

Eucayptus and Lavender oils are great for things like this!
They have anti bacterial, anti fungal and anti septic properties. You only need a few drops straight in your toilet bowl and scrub as per usual.
You can also put them in an old spray and wipe bottle and use them to slean the seat, etc.

Oregano is also about 100 times more powerful than bleach. You boil it in a pit and then skim the water into a bottle and use as per spray and wipe. Safe to use on everything but stronger than bleach! Ace! lol That can get exxy though - but if you grow your own oregano it works very well.

Bicarb soda and vinegar is great to. Mix them together and they will fiz and bubble. The act of creating the oxygen is a highly powerful cleaning agent - great for shower grouts especially too, just use an old toothbrush.

    HTH!

    Hi
I use either bicarb or eco friendly stuff, we have a biocycle so thats all we can use. I was hard to leave my friend bleach but I have to say now that we dont use any harsh chemical as it will affect the biocycle I still feel my house is clean and my and DH dont seem to have as much allergy issues, that could also be the fresh air

I use bicarb & vinegar and will sometimes put a few drops of lavendar or eucaliptus oil in if we have guests coming.
