Does your baby wake up happy or sad?

No matter how much sleep Mackenzie gets, she ALWAYS seems to wake up cranky! SHe has had her very few moments where she wakes up and is happy to lay in her cot talking to herself but that is very rare.

The norm is for her to scream/call out/cry whatever till I get her (usually withing 1 minute!!) and feed her. After that she looks up with a big grin and starts chatting away and all is good! Wondered what other bubs do and how do I fix this or it is just her?

ryan is 2 and a half and still wakes up cranky no matter what every day .... it takes soothing talking and a quick cuddle and we are all good again

Happy, mostly. When he is teething and awoken early he is cranky and miserable, but generally he will wake up and play on his on in the cot for anywhere up to an hour before being grumpy enough to want to get up.

With DS - he still wakes up grumpy and miserable and screams the house down if he has a nap in the middle of the day - it had gotten a little bit better for awhile - and if he doesnt' have the nap he is fine. Which is brilliant cos at 2, I'm a little bit sick of the constant screaming on wake up. He's never been a happy cheery bub.

On the other hand - Miss M - words fail me as to how brilliant she is as a baby. Always happy. Has cried a handful of times in 5 months when waking (usually if DS has woken her up with his screaming).

Usually she just chats away to herself and as soon as we get into her room, she gives us a big grin... shucks.. I just love the kid

Livvy wakes up cranky until she sees Daddy and then alls good. Makes it interesting on the morning that he has already left for work or is away on work.

Ava-Jayde wakes up happy. She use to wake up crying when she was a bubba, but now she wakes up talking to herself and playing with her toys in her cot. SO really most the time I can have a few moments to lay there and actually wake up before I tend to her it's really great.

When DS was a baby he used to wake up fairly happy, but as he got older, he increasingly woke up cranky - only after his daytime naps. After about the age of 1 - until at least 3yo he would wake up from his daytime naps cranky, crying, clingy and just really out of sorts, and would stay that way for a good 30min to an hour, sometimes longer. (He has since been diagnosed with ASD, so I wonder if it was some sort of sensory issue for him, as he really did not cope with it at times.)

DD is happy when she wakes. Can rarely remember her waking up crying and cranky, would be less than a handful of times.

DS every time, without fail, screams the house down when he wakes up. But as soon as I walk into the room he's fine. Sometimes wish he'd be happy to play in his cot for a little while, but I can't have everything

DS2 wakes up happy. He kicks and talks to himself when he wakes up.
When DS1 was a baby I think he woke up alright. He wasn't as happy as DS2 is when he wakes though.

Generally... crying a handful of time she'll wake with a squeal and maybe even a laugh... once... but mostly crying. And you'd think it can only get better from there? If only (yeah, bit of a bad day lol)

Ashton always wakes up and talks and is all smiles when I go to get him. Jaidan and Chase were also happy as soon as they were woken, even now they come in and say "good morning mummy!" lol
My cousin however is a horrible child when she wakes, she used to sit up and start crying immediately.

DS wakes up happy in the mornings (but he's usually in bed with me). He is almost always cranky after day naps - needs a 10 min cuddle when he wakes up.

Both my girls have always woken up happy, singing in their beds.

Usually cranky and crying, although it's getting better as he gets older. Probably about half and half these days (Leash, there is light at the end of the tunnel!). Sleeping in a bed makes a big difference! Cot = crying child, bed = child who wakes up, climbs out of bed, and walks down the hallway chatting

Arabella is always squealing with delight when she wakes first thing, but gets a little grumpy if she wakes too early during day sleeps.

Had this conversation the other day and from my experience this is usually the case! Parents can be quite apprehensive with regards to starting in a bed! Going on holiday and having no other choice is often the start of the bed debate! lol Often people are surprised! however we all have good/ bad days and just as i right his don't think it is always going to be rosie! lol


some children just don't like waking? i wonder if these are the same children that go to bed with a fight (in not so many words) or if they suddenly wake somewhere where they do not remember being?? do they fall asleep in you arms then wake in a cot?
