Question Getting rid of kitchen knives

I'm currently in the middle of packing as we are moving and I've just gone through the kitchen. We had a few knives we don't use and I want to get rid of them, but how? I can't just put them in the bin can I???

I've got a few people you could stick them in

actually call your local police station to ask them where they recommend you taking them to dispose of them - they may have somewhere they suggest. I'm not too sure if lifeline/vinnies etc take donations.

Otherwise you could try your local school for their tuckshop???

You can throw them in the kitchen bin, just wrap them in several sheets of newspaper first

    Mel!

I thought about wrapping them in newspaper, but I'm still worried someone will stab themselves!! Good idea about the police! I might try that, they'll probably come and check if there is any blood on them first!!

    Thanks ladies!!

shouldn't do if you explain to them they're just excess kitchen knives and you "want to be a responsible citizen and dispose of them in a safe way".

Let us know what they say, I need to get rid of some and there are only so many voodoo dolls you can stick knives into before you run out of voodoo dolls

Ok-I rang the council and they said you can just put them in the normal bin just make sure they are wrapped really well in newspaper or cloth.

    Thanks for your help girls!

Just to throw something else in here...

If you chuck them in the bin, they will never break down in land fill, is there anywhere that you could donate them to???
    Friends or family?
I cleaned out all our old stuff and kept some of the old stuff for a camping/picnic setting - you may have friends that could do the same...

Sorry to be annoying, but i really hate the fact that we throw away perfectly good and useful items, just because we dont need them anymore or they are old iykwim

If they are broken, however go for it...

Sammiejane- The knives are going to charity first, but if they don't accept them I needed to know what to do with them. And your definetly not being annoying!!
