I had mirena fitted day before olympics (7/08/08), have 17mth old & 33mth old.
On insertion i was told i had a long vagina but a short cervix, the strings are very short, gp checked them after 6wks from insertion & said yes they're quite short, hence why cant feel them.
Last night I started feeling movements about 1inch from my belly button & continued on/off night/day, tonight i actually saw my tummy move, have put on weight & very hungry & yes i guess i was bit nauseous recently.
Bit scared, we hadnt planned on having a 3rd. GP aptmt on Fri for unrelated test results (had 3 UTI's in 3mths & checking if its cleared up or if need longer term antib & had been feeling super tired/run down/moody... was put down to anxiety/depression & raising 2 young kids) & now have to ask about this.
Not just that, but my sis is 28wks preggas & i've given her/promised her just about everything of ours... not gonna sleep well til i know.
Have been feeling sharp type twinges/pain in my groin/ovary region & near my belly button where the movements are... am i imagining it all i wonder... or maybe the antibiotics could have interferred with the mirena, yikes...
I suspect that it could be just one of the many wonderful-not side effects of the mirena.
I had mine for three years and during that time had numerous occassions when I thought the exact same thing. I would lay in bed at night and literally see my belly move, feel the movements, flutters etc my husband put his hand on my belly one night a freaked out.
This among the other side effects that built up over time (I LOVED the mirena at first) made me get it removed in March 08, now the only side effect I have is that I'm now pregnant LOL (while on the pill).
All the best, let us know how you go, I may be completely wrong and you may be pregnant a friend of mine got pregnant with the Mirena so it does happen but I just wanted to tell you my experience.
Cheers Missy
how did you go at the DR's, hope everything went well
i was reading a few days ago that the merina is less effective when taking antibiotics, as soon as i read that i ran out to get pregnancy tests lol
i had the merina inserted on the 18th August 2008 and they say to try and wait for 6 months so your body gets use to it, and my body is getting worse with the side effects, so i think i will be getting mine out
I'm not preggas & my GP has assured me that none of my symptoms are from the Mirena (she too has one in). She said the amount of hormone released is the smallest amount compared to anything else, it's just a hint of a hormone & the only reason it was put in there was to try to prevent the hemorrhaging/heavy bleeding for those who do when they have IUD's, the hormones have nothing to do with making the product actually work conception-wise. So I'm keeping it in.
Bubble sensations are from bowels & I need to eat more fiber & she's sent many women to gynaes with bloating issues & they've all been told the same thing by the gynaes.
