A friend suggested re using the glas baby food jars and freezing the food in these
Is it safe to do this?

I'd say yes.. wash them well and just watchthe temp changes going in or out of the freezer don't make the glass crack, ykwim?

Yep I would say so. I would just make sure they are washed well. I cook big batches of food for my twins and freeze in ice cube trays then when they are frozen I transfer the cubes to snap lock bags, and write on the bag with a permanent marker what is in them and what date is was cooked. I find this way I can mix a few vegies together.

Yeh not a good idea to freeze glass though as it may shatter in the freezer. But otherwise ive used them to store other things in in the fridge.
But you can either use ice cube trays or something my gf was using which i thought was a good idea, what a cup cake tray. Once they were frozen she just took it out and put them in freezer bags then put another lot in the cup cake trays to freeze. Seemed to work well.

the other thing you can do, is to get freezer bags and a few plastic containers. freeze the food in the plastic container, lined with the freezer bag, then remove the frozen food (in bag) from the container - makes it easier to stack, and you don't need so many plastic containers.

You may want to have a look at food storage - thinking of vacola preserving. I know you can sterilise the glass jars in a low oven.
