    New contraceptive...

I have heard of a new contraceptive that is shaped like an O and sits just inside the vagina. Is anyone using it? Can you give me the 'run down' on it?

That's not a new contraceptive. They were showing us that when I was in Year 10 (and that was 16 years ago now).

I've never used it (or know anyone who has), but you can find it relatively easy on a google search.

Its called a Nuva Ring, and works like the pill. Insert it for three weeks, take it out for a period break for a week, and insert a new one.

I did make a post, but it didn't appear ?????

I don't think this is a new contraceptive, as I remember them being shown during sex ed classes in year 10 (which was 16 years ago)... As echidna said: It's called the Nuva Ring.

(ETA: never mind - I didn't realise the post needed to be approved first - must be because I am a newbie! Sorry about the double post)

I used the Nuva Ring, i thought it was great, you dont need to remember to take it(i use to forget to take the pill) i used it for about 20 weeks but in the end i was told by the DR to use them constantly for 9 weeks then have AF as my AF started coming every 2 weeks, it doesnt control AF like the pill does, it is for contraception only(well thats what my Dr told me), you cant use it while Breastfeeding, umm what else lol, you can leave them in or take them out while making love

they are expensive but that is because they are new i think i paid $60 for 3rings(i was also told the more people that buy them the cheaper they will get)

NuvaRing? is a comfortable, flexible ring about 2? in diameter. You insert it into your vagina once a month* ? the exact position isn?t important for it to work. Once inside, NuvaRing? releases a continuous low dose of hormones to prevent pregnancy.

NuvaRing? is as effective as the Pill when used as directed, but you don?t have to take it every day. You leave NuvaRing? in place for 3 weeks, then remove it for a 1-week ring-free period. You should get your period during this ?week off.? (Using NuvaRing? as prescribed, you will continue to be protected from pregnancy during the ring-free week.) Exactly 1 week after you take NuvaRing? out, you insert a new one.
