Do I have to tell the Real Estate??

Hubby & I rent, and have been in this house since Feb '07.......we had a 12 month lease, and when that expired we just stayed on without signing a new one. Its only just occured to me...do I need to tell the agent that I am pregnant and there will soon be a new full time resident of the house??? LOL Sounds silly to ask, but Im just not sure

Nah, we didn't tell them. Its not like the baby can sign the lease!

If you're doing up a nursery, I found these really cute removable wall borders on ebay. It just peels right off when you want to take it down without damaging the paint (at least thats what is says and I seriously, seriously hope they're right!!), and it looks great!

Not wanting to jinx myself here, but in the last 12 months Ive only had tradies in doing work, no actual inspections (I recently found out the lady in charge of rentals and her replacement are both on maternity leave LOL)

amberj...love the sound of the removable border stickers, I will have to have a look for some thanks

Thanks for the reassurance guys.....was starting to panic myself about having to move if the landlord didnt want babies here LOL

No you don't need to. I asked our property manager about that when DD was born. We have to sign a pet lease to notify when we get a new pet (which reminds me, we need to do that for our fish and our kitten). But they don't need to know about a new child. (Though our carpets are heaps dirtier since having DD thanks to all the spills and vomit that babies do).

Im not sure if you have to tell them but we told ours we are expecting (we'd only been there 2 months but our real estate agent is a lady and she went all gaga when I told her haha).

As for those ebay stickers, I went looking for some and most I found were rather expensive...then I went to my local Red Dot and found wall decals (albeit rather small, each one is about hand size or abit bigger) but a sheet of about 10 stickers was $3! We got a few sheets with jungle animals, noahs ark etc, they r very cute and colorful. So next time ur in red dot ask them if they have any!

I was wondering if I had to do this as well. I havent as yet and our landlords never do inspections. We have lived here for almost 3yrs and they may ahve been through once (and that was to look at teh pergola that had hail damage and I invited them in to come and get a cold drink). I think they know thwat we look after the place, rent is always paid on time and 2 weeks in advance and they are happy with us as we tend to fix things if something goes wrong. DP is quite handy and has lots of tradie mates that will often come by and do a fabour for us.

I was wondering this too. We haven't told but hopefully they've got the idea by now and don't just think I'm getting very fat, lol.

If you are only on a month to month arrangement, I'd ask for a renewal of the lease before your baby comes. I'd hate to be in the position where I was given a month's notice because my landlord didn't want to let to a family, for whatever reason.

Hmm thats a really good point....Ive just been looking around online at other rentals in my area and it seems Im getting a really good deal here....dont think I would want the stress of having to move and pay more rent on only DH's income. I think I will just call them Tuesday and see what they say

Good luck! And I'd definitely go with the policy that if they don't ask, don't tell!
