Introducing a pillow?
My little amigo has co-sleeped with us on and off for the last year so he knows what a pillow is but has never had one in his cot.
He was tired last night and jed poppe done in his cot and he went to sleep happily.
Im worried about having the pillow in his cot (cot death ect) I have become such a worry wart with my fourth lol
When did you introduce a pillow into your child's bed/cot?

DS was 19 months, I was also nervous and posted a thread on here with the same question. DS loves his pillow I think it helps him go to sleep quicker.

Abou 10 months I think. DD use to (and still does) fling herself all over the place so I never worried about her smothering herself. She has slept a lot better since introducing the pillow.

I've been wondering this. Jesse finds cushions on the floor & lays on them when he's tired.
Maybe they'll help him sleep? I'm not too sure if I should yet though.
My daughter never had a pillow in her cot ... nor does she now have one YET in her single bed ... she is 2.5years
Though will introduce one at some point

DS co-sleeps some of the time and the first thing he will do is grab a pillow and lay his head on it. we are thinking of getting his own pillow when he goes into a bed in a few months. Apparently Tontine pillows do a toddler pillow which is a lot thiner and firmer than a normal pillow.

I've been thinking about it a bit.
I'm pretty sure my girls were both between 14 & 16 months old when I introduced a pillow - just came with the conversion to a bed - & neither of them actually sleep on their pillows now.
They might go to sleep on them, but they don't stay under their heads long.
I can't survive without mine!

Maz, I just bought E a pillow today. His sleep has been shocking lately and I bought it in the hope it will help.

Afterthought here - I originally gave DD one of the Target Toddler ones (all I could find at the time) and do not reccomend them. After about a week it went all lumpy and broke apart internally (all encased still) and became mighty uncomfortable and hot. I couldn't even "fluff" it to get it back to how it was suppose to be! That one went in the bin...

LOL - that's reassuring to hear MG - that's what I just bought.
It was all I could get too. The Tontine ones looked heaps better, but they only had them in the 'Junior' size, which is the same size as the standard pillow, but just thinner and harder. All of my pillowcases for E are the toddler size, which is 40 x 60cm.

Suse, what does it look like? DD's was white with blue teddy bears all over it and was the same size as an adult ones... on reflection, not sure why it was called a toddler one?

WOW this was a timly thread... i had been thinking the same thing, and like some of the other bubbas MJ tried to sleep ON something when she is tired.
We too have coslept on and off and when ever she is in bed with us she lies on my pillow(or me) and sleeps soooooo much better...
Anyway so tonight i put one in her cot (im a bit scared thou so have checked her heaps and have the monitor next to me)
She went to sleep so much easier than she previously has so thats a bonus, i am planning on getting a baby one tomorrow if all goes well tonight and she sleeps better...
DSS didnt get a pillow til he went into a big bed at our house, which was 2 years and he went straight onto a normal pillow, i was planning on doing the same with MJ, however its like she is sending me signs that she wants one...
We had the head of her cot elevated for her first 6 months and come to think of it, when we lowered it, that was the beginning of all the sleep problems.... hummm, maybe i will elevate the head of the cot and see if thats any better

Maz- SIDS and kids don't ever recommend having one in a cot, but introducing it when they move into a big bed. There was on old thread about it one here and i remember someone suggesting making up the cot with the pillow under the sheet. So maybe give that a chocolate-swirl!

Jesse was about 14 months i think. Reason i did was he use to get out of his blankets to lie on top of his blankets.

my older 2 were given pillows when they went into BIG beds at 12months old...
