A new you in 1001 days?

OK, so I know its not for everyone, but I am really into lists.

    The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

    The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

    Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

    Some common goal setting tips:
    1. Be decisive. Know exactly what you want, why you want it, and how you plan to achieve it.

    2. Stay Focussed. Any goal requires sustained focus from beginning to end. Constantly evaluate your progress.

    3. Welcome Failure. Frequently, very little is learned from a venture that did not experience failure in some form. Failure presents the opportunity to learn and makes the success more worthy.

    4. Write down your goals. It clarifies your thinking and reinforces your commitment.

    5. Keep your goals in sight. Review them frequently, and ensure that they are always at the forefront of your thinking.

I saw in roryory's blog you wanted to do this for yourself this year. So have you been concentrating on that? How about little things around the home that need doing but you've forgotten about? Or is there something special you've been wanting to do by yourself, or with dh?

I've got lots of photography things, like different projects I've wanted to do but never have, household things, things with the kids, exercise, meeting new people. I can't believe there aren't 101 things I want to do ROFL!! I'm sure with a few more hours today I'll have it all sorted to start tomorrow.

Rory - I like your #27. I have Charmaine Solomons Asian Favourites. Her recipes are awesome! We have the beef and black bean once a week!

Ha! This is just the type of thing I love to start and won't ever finish!!! I have so many good intentions!

But it has reminded me of one thing I keep meaning to do but always forget when my computer is on- organise a monthly picnic with a big group of my close friends. We used to do this when I was a kid and loved it, and for years I've been "intending" to do it. So I'm getting off BB now and doing it! So you have inspired me in a good way. I'll just do it my way - 1 thing in 1 hour!!!

But I do think we should set some yearly goals
Mabello a GF of mine does this with her husband every year - they have financial, "couple", children and family goals. One I can recall she told us about was they wanted to be a more active family, another was that as a couple they were going to admit something to eachother once a week (whether it was eating too much or something from their childhood they had kept secret) and so on.

I found it awfully hard to think of 101 things to put on my list too!!!
