I keep thinking of joining our P&C too Fiona, it's the same... they have their group and are set in their ways! I made a suggestion to a friend on the P&C about some fundraising ideas and she said she would pass it along, but they pretty much know what they are doing as it's always the same! So I thought...why even bother??
The only suggestion I have is maybe to collect info about what fundraising ideas you and other parents have and take them to a meeting one night. you could maybe get some annonymous -sp? opinions from them about what they would like - like the plates - (which are a fantastic idea Check out the websites and print off the info and take it with you and say we are sick and tired of this stuff and we want something useful and memorable and lasting.
Only thing I can think of sorry!
I know some websites like Stuck on You and the bulb catalogue people...think it is Garden Express? They have info for school fundraising on their websites.
Goodluck
Thanks for that Nic, I do plan on asking other parents at pick up times. I thought I would arrive a little earlier & just ask them all what they think/like etc.
thanks for that

That's a pretty ordinary P&C - very unprofessional. Do you know if there are any representatives from the school like the Principal or teachers that attend meetings? Maybe they don't know how unreceptive they are of you who make the effort, but get shot down. If that's the case, I would approach the Principal about it and tell them that you and others have tried to join in but are made to feel unwelcome etc and that you have great ideas to share but get shot down/ignored. As for the time thing, it may be hard to get that changed as most school committes have times like that to allow for maximum exposure to attract parents who work etc and can't attend earlier in the day. We actually changed our preschool committee meeting time to a later one as we could get more parents that way for the reasons that are stopping you from going - so maybe having it later could be a better option?
But in my experience of clique committees is that you will never get them to change - you just have to wait till they get sick of it and don't stand for re-election at the AGM and then jump in yourself.
