Clinics in Sydney with waiting lists for egg donors and embryo adoption

    Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could help me which clinics in Sydnay have waiting lists for egg donation and embry adoption.

I am currently undergoing IVF for a genetic defect. So far it hasn't been very promising but don't want to give up yet. Since I am already 39 my next step may be looking out for an egg donor or embryo adoption. My clinic (SIVF) does only do known egg/embryo donation.

If possible I'd already like to go on a wait list so to not lose more time if things don't work out.

    Hey Sara

Your best bet is to ring them all up and see what they say about their programs, and what the waiting period is likely to be, conditions of donation etc.

Anecdotally on one occasion I have heard of a single woman joining up with a clinic and being told there are years to wait (which sadly is all too true) and then soon after was contacted to be told there were embryos available. This didn't work out unfortunately but then she was rung up from another clinic in another state and there were more embryos for her.

If you also want to know more about known donation of both eggs and embryos, which is becoming more popular in Australia, I am happy to chat with you about it and give you some links to places where you can find more information etc. There are amazing stories and women out there to share this all with.

Sara I started thinking and looking into ED over 1 year before we made the move to try it. I found that knowing more about my options and having it as a possible backup/next step for repeated failed cycles really helped me get through it all.

Thank you Dusty, this is very helpful. Thank you very much for offering to talk to me about known egg donations. Will take you up on it at a later stage. I see it exactly like you do, it's just good to know my options. I have also already started to look into adoption and other options.

I know IVF westmead has a waiting list so don't try there. I know IVF RPA has a waiting list so dont go there.

Im not sure about embies but IVF East sydney doesnt have waiting lists for sperm. I am not sure about embies you could ring them and find out.

I know what you mean about thinking your running out of time.

I wish you all the luck in the world.

    bye for now

Thanks Red Lady - that's much appreciated, saw your message in the other thread about donor sperm and wishing you with the decision.

Thanks Sara for the well wishes.

It seems like Dh and I are leaning towards home insemination. But as easy as this seems having someone elses sperm up there besides your dh's sound a bit Icky. But whether we do home insemination or do it through the clinic it is still someone elses sperm.

I will you well to, on your journey.

    bye for now
