    Unhappy Food Question

    Hi,
I am 6 wks pregnant today and have myself a little worried now.
I went to lunch with the girls from work and without even thinking ordered a chicken caesar salad. This was bad wasn't. I remember reading somewhere that you should only eat chicken if it is hot. I chose the salad because I thought it would have been a healthier option????
Can someone please put my mind at ease???
Are there symptoms you get if you think you might have picked up lysteria?????

    Hi there
Generally all meats should be cooked fresh and steaming hot.
And try to avoid foods that sit in windows for a period of time as they are not kept at a suitable temperature

As for listeria.. i dont know symptoms but i was told that the risk of MC from listeria was sooo tiny it hardly worth worrying about.

    Thanx PinkPalace.
Can't help but worry though. I hope you are right. I have a scan on 17 Feb so that will put my mind at ease then.
The place I got if from is always busy and has a pretty good reputation. I have eaten there plenty of times. They cut their salads fresh each day so at the most, it would only have been sitting there for a couple of hours. They put it all together for you while you wait, so only semi-pre-pared. Just trying to convince myself it will be okay.
I am trying to drink double the amount of water, mentally thinking it might help with flushing it through.

Listeria is extremely uncommon. It's very unlikely you have contracted anything. If you are worried, contact your GP or a midwife
From what I have heard, the symptoms are flu like... but I could be mistaken.

lol - i would ask your doctor for some information and statistics.
I just remember my dr with #1 said to me that listeria got such a big awareness in australia because a politicians wife a few years back had a MC due to it.

From what i can remember the biggest threat is between 2-3 trimesters.

I wouldnt stress as the stress is definately not good for you or the baby this early on. Just be mindful and perhaps look up some nice recipes you can cook and make yourself instead of buying out if it makes you feel better

I know with #2 i was not half as strict as i was with #1 (ie cold meats, cheeses, caffiene etc) and i had to perfectly healthy babies.

Thanks Niadla and thanks PinkPalace, you have put my mind at ease.
I am sure I will be okay, but you know what we are like first time around.
All this worries drives us nuts.
Thanks for the responses, it has really helped.
