    Health Care Card question...

I appologise if there is already a post about this somewhere, but I wasn't able to find anything.

I was just wondering how to go about getting a HCC now that we are getting FTB parts A & B combined? And whether we would be eligable for it, as DF's income is variable from week to week, and he could earn anywhere between $45,000 and $50,000 per anum?

    Thanks guys.

the cut off for automatically receiving a HCC is somewhere around 42k combined so you're over that limit sorry

Thanks for that, I was just wondering about it as we had a HCC before Jaycen was born when DF was only earning 45k. At least now I know and I won't have to make a trip down the street lol Thanks heaps.

I think can you still apply for one BG?? Is it just that you only get it automatically under 42k??

    yeah you can

the income thresholds are on the centrelink website. the thresholds are on par with FTB though unless you have a HEAP of children. if you don't qualify for FTB HCC with two kids, you won't apply for a LIC manually processed

I stopped by my local centrelink office on a whim while down the street today and found out that the limit for a LIC with one child is approximately $6,200 over 8 weeks. DF and I are going to go through all of his payslips (we overestimated for the FTB in case he had a week where he earned more than normal, which happens occasionally) and figure out exactly how much he gets over 8 weeks.

Thanks for all your help BG

fwiw - the thresholds for a LIC on the guidelines your looking at work out to be LESS than the FTB thresholds - your partners income before tax is taken out has to be less than 6200 for 8 weeks, for the FTB card it's 6500. if he's earning 45k, at a guess, he's getting 6900. no tax deductions are taken into account for Low income card, whereas tax deductions are included in the FTB one

not trying to stop you applying - just putting it out there for others that might read
