ds2 is almost 10 weeks wow where has the time gone??!!.. and I dont really have a routine just try to wrap and put him to sleep in pram usually or in arms and put him down when he is tried after an hour or so.. but he seems to be up late ..with tummy ache (colic has definately eased since the first 6 weeks) and sometimes wakes after a short period. i feel like i failed terribly with ds1 who is 2.8months because he still wakes at night and goes to bed late! im so exhausted but dont want to get stressed out about routine. however do u think this is maybe my problem? any one with success with routines can u post ideas? love to hear them
Mia is in quite a set routine. i wouldnt have it any other way. goes like this..
7:30am feed
till 9am (what ever.. play, read.. )
9am - nap
10am wake
10:30am feed
till 12pm (whatever)
12pm nap
1pm wake
1:30pm feed
till 3pm (what ever)
3pm nap
4pm wake and bath
4:30 feed
This part of the day now she chooses for herself depending on how well she sleeps during the day. If she hasnt slept much she will have a little nap but 20 mins or so.
7-7:30 feed
8pm bed
11pm rollover feed.
Now this does change.. alter and hour here or there.. depends on what we are doing during the day or what time she wakes in the morning. HTH
Our little ones both settled into a routine eventually, but I think it is important to remember that while most babies will eventually settle into a routine, there is no one magical routine that works for every baby.
At 10 weeks, I think it is early days yet. It took Olivia 9 months to really settle into a routine.
For me with 3 very young kids (the eldest being 26 months....the youngest 4 weeks) a routine is a must in this house.
With DD1 i never had a routine til she was about 6 months old. Then a lovely BB member put me on the right track and it went from there. When DD2 came along i put her into the same routine as her sister with a few minor changes (eg feeding was more often for DD2 so just added it in to the day).
Now with DS here he is in their routine even though most days its thrown out of control!
Our general routine is (for all 3):
Between 5 and 7am - DS has his first feed, then back to bed
7am - DD1 + DD2 wake
730/8am - DD's bottles then they play/watch tv
10am - Morning tea for the girls....DS feeds then as awake time
11am - Ds back to bed
12pm - Lunch for the girls
1230pm - DD2 goes to bed for a nap
2pm - DS feed then back to bed
3pm - DD2 wakes
6-630 - Dinner and DS wakes
7pm - DS feed
730 - Girls shower/bath
8pm - Girls bottles then bed
830 - DS bath (if awake)
10-1030pm - DS last feed for the night
My DD's go to FDC so their routine on a Tues and Thurs is slightly different but not by much
