what to hold flats together with?

    Hi there,

I'm new to the world of cloth... I am planning on using flats for "emergencies" - when I run out of out fitted nappies. I would like to know what I can use to hold flats together with? I know about the old style pins, but I have heard about something you can use where you don't have to "pin" it as such??? What's this? Where do I get them?? I have tried searching for them online, but can't find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks :-)

    Snappi's.

YOu can get them from big w in the baby section or online. Ebay have them pretty cheaply.

They work best on the terry flats - the flanno flats you can just close with the cover on them. (Snappi's don't work that well on flanno)

If you're going to use them on a newie, you can usually just tuck them, no pins/snappis required. I have managed to snappi flannelette, but it's not as grabby as terry towelling (which is too bulky for a newborn in my opinion).

In fact...here's the no-pins-no-snappi fold I used for my bub's at times.

Thanks for your quick replies! :-)

DD is 10 months, and I am pretty sure the flats I have are terry towelling, so I'll have a look for them in the shops.

every so often, i see them in random chemists and supermarket baby aisles too.

mcn websites like mandy macs sell them too.

maybe google "snappis" and see waht you find.

I'm glad to hear you say that terry towelling flats are too bulky on nbs Nelle, for the last two years, i wondered where i went wrong with flats, you have answered my question - thanks.

Nelle, that no pins nappy fold looks like a gem!

I bought flannelette and then realised the snappies dont work on them and wondered what I was going to do with them (dont like the idea of pins!)

I'm off to try out this fold on a doll, will let you know how I go!!

ETA: WOW! That's so easy! Do you just put a pilcher / cover over the tip of it?

    Thanks for sharing Nelle!
