    How many hours?

    Hi,

Does anyone know how many hours sleep a 7 year old should be getting?

    Thanks in advance

I was actually looking this up the other day for my 6 year old who loves her sleep!

It's recommended that 7-12 year olds get between 10-11 hours but they say the average is 9.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks melS,

I saw on the tv today DRS or what it is called that even one 1 less sleep a night can have big effects on behaviour, school work etc.

So i am hoping all she needs is more sleep because we are having alot of problems with her; she doesn't listen, lies, gets very angry and has been known to lash out (hitting or trying to hurt you). Also we are having problems with her making friends at school, she crys when I drop her off in the morning.

Oh your DD sounds like my son when he doesn't get enough sleep and he is now 9 and a half..

We have to make sure he gets a minimum of 9 hours.. If he gets less (which is rare thankfully) he is a beast! he average 10-11 hours.. We put him to bed at 7 and he is usually asleep by 8 and is up between 5:30 and 7 most mornings..

I know my younger DD is horrid without enough sleep, so maybe a little extra sleep might help your daughter? A good nights sleep is important, I know I get a little cranky without a decent sleep!

My 6 yo DD goes to bed around 8pm and I always have to wake her up - 7am when I have to go to work and around 7.45am on a non-work day.

Good luck and hope she gets that extra sleep.
