This may be one for the C(K)hristy's.
Can Doggies get Queensland Itch? Poor ole Stevo is at it again We have just moved and we have lots of midges here, I am getting chewed and Steve has just started munching on himself BIG time
His diet hasnt changed and we have no wandering jew and it definatly not hotspots.
So am thinking the midges are getting to him.
Now, I know how to treat it in horses, (keep em covered and I use a product called brute which is a once a week pour on fly repellant.) Do you recon I could use the brute on him?
I am worried about treating him too agressivly as Steve being Steve went and got himself $1000 worth of pancreatitis before xmas and now that he is "special needs", I worry about medicating him.

You can get a permoxin rinse from some vet clinics... or big pet shops and make it up in a garden spray bottle, spray his feet in the morning and evening. That will work if its midges. But sometimes they can get allergic dermatitis to grasses and different pollens. So check his feet out, if the skin is a generalised pink and no obvious "bites" and in between his toes are red and sore... I would say its more a contact grass sort of allergy. That needs to be seen by a vet, spraying it with permoxin could hurt and not help that. If its lumps and small patches of pink than it sounds more like midge bites.

Between the toes all good Christy. The itchy spots are on his flanks/thighs and either side of his tail. I have resorted to putting the tiniest bit of neocort morning and night on them otherwise he licks/chews down to blood.
My horse vet told me of an antihisthamine that I may be able to give him.
Cant remember the name though
