CONGRATS HON!!! That is so awesome![]()
I don't think I've had one since my early teens! OMG!!!!!!!!!
Due to PCOS my cycles have been all over the shop for ages. Some of my worst cycles were over 100 days. Recently I started eliminating bad carbs (not all carbs but the majority of my carbs come from veg instead of pasta, bread, rice etc). And eating more to suit my motabolism. And since november I have managed to lose 12 kgs (with a few hiccups along the way). I feel this is very much a way of life for me as I know if I head back down the carb path it is only going to lead to weight gain as my body just doesn't process carbs well. Anyway this last cycle was only 31 days, the cycle before was 38, it will be so interesting to see what next month's cycle will be. I'm not TTC (our family unit is complete) but I do chart so I know where I am at, and it gives me an indication of how bad the PCOS is at the time. But I truly am wrapped, apart from the weightloss this is a great gift, as it means my insulin levels are getting better which translates to hormonal balance too. ECSTATIC!!!! (but I also know its more to do with what I am eating, not weightloss as such...)

Woot!! Way to Go!!!
Woohoo to you Cai! Hope you are feeling better for it too.
Wow i can't believe reducing your carbs could have such an awesome change in your hormones etc.
I always had really long and irregular cycles, 1st pregnancy was a complete fluke i would say only 2mths TTC and 2nd pregnancy took 4+yrs. No PCOS hear just really out of balance hormones, might be something for me to try. Thanks and congratulations.

Wooohooooo that's amazing, exceptional news! And all because you figured out what your body needed and made the decision to listen to it.![]()
oh cai - just brill- i have pcos i would love to do the same thing!!
and 12kgs since chrissy- wow!!
Danni, that was the same for us. First pregnancy was a fluke and 2nd took 2 yrs and 2 miscarriages. I'm kind of kicking myself that I didn't do this sooner (so much bad hype about low carb living around... but now I'm noticing so much REAL research is coming about and all of it suggest that for type 2 diabetes and PCOS this is the only real way to get and stay healthy). It makes so much sense when you think about the cause of PCOS and how it is a genetic throwback to parts of the world who went through periods of starvation (Ireland, Africa and Asia have shown strong PCOS rates). Where during famine the genes changed to allow for fertility (as most women who starve tend to not be fertile) where as for us PCOS'ers our gene saved our family line as it allowed women who were in famine to be able to be VERY fertile. And what is happening to my body now is a text book example of that. No I'm not in famine, but I am not feeding my body with foods that are associated with plentiful eating. I now look at my PCOS a different way, because I think had our genetics not changed previously I might not exist. And even though I do have to live a lifestyle from the rest of a lot of people I can still live a normal happy life, I just need to maintain a different dietary lifestyle to achieve this. And yay for that! If you want any information Danni & LSK on how I have changed my lifestyle please feel free to PM me
Thanks ladiesEven though my cycles are not something I specifically "need" to be regular as my fertility isn't an issue anymore, it still feels great to know my body is almost acting normally. I cannot wait to go back to my dr for blood tests to see how my hormone levels are post weight loss that will be a great insight too.
Congratulations Cai!
Fertility aside, how fantastic to have your body back in 'working' order!!
