Qu for VIC members - 3 yo kinder

Can some one explain to me what this is all about....?

I keep getting asked have i enrolled ALL 3 of my kids in 3 yo kinder yet.....then some say have i enrolled for 4 yo kinder....

Whats the difference and what one am i ment to have them enrolled in?

Ive nto done anything yet.....Chelsea is 3 in November so should maybe pull my finger out....Jasmine isnt 3 until October 2010...and as for Zachery he wont be 3 until January 2013....

So why is it that i keep being told they should be enrolled at birth.

Is it a compulsary thing i have to send the kids too?

Vic teaching system is very different to NSW where i am from.

Also we dont know how long we will be here for....i want to be back in NSW asap....but we are not sure what to do yet.

Is it worth me even thinking bout these kinders?

It's the area Kim. Casey is so full of little ones that you need to enrol them at birth or risk not getting a spot.

It's not compulsory to send them to kinder, many don't, but if you want to then it's best to do it.

Id say in your area you have to enrol early. It all depends which council area you are in.
In mine, you CANT enrol til April of the year before they go, and for 4 year old, it doesnt matter how early you enrol during the enrolment period, places are all allocated in order of birthdate, starting at May 1. So the kids who miss out tend to be the ones with birthdays in March or April.

Kim ive only just started ringing around to try and get Krystal into 3yo next year.

3yo you have toapply directly to the kinder, 4yo, is done through the council, i got the form from my MCHN
